I know its correct over saying "i could care less" so im not arguing something that is literally correct. So it doesnt make sense to me but I aint about to argue with english scholars and people who are smarter than me.

But I always interpret it as meaning you do care, on some small level, because the baseline of care hasnt been established to be zero. Though I understand "I could care less" to actually mean you care, but I don't see how "couldnt" gives us the opposite.

eh, i guess it makes sense thinking like, if you could not care less it implies you dont care because if you do you can always care less. if you couldn't care less you must already be at ground level with no lower to go.

I guess? For some reason despite knowing which phrase is correct I never had that lightbulb moment. even now, if my theory is true its more like dang i turned the lights on but its flickering like eh whatever.

oh well.

For a cheap american at a decent price range i'd go with Evan Williams bonded. Its very decent and I got it in COMMIEVANIA for under 20 bucks so probably cheaper in FL.

Plus its 50% abv, so drunk faster let the gooooood tiiiiiiiimesssss rooollll

The other bonded Ive had is old gran dad, but that was a little more expensive. worth it though.

The bonded whiskies ive seen are all fairly cheap yet decent at worst. The bonded designation means a few things, mainly minimum of 50% abv and no tricks. They have to age them in gov't monitored warehouses and iirc can not contain any caramel or added color. Now granted a bourbon must be bourbon and can't be anything but, which is why jim beam is bourbon and jim beam apple is whisky. But bonded adds in a federally regulated layer of protection to make sure you're not being tricked.

I think for bourbon they can add caramel color. And perhaps "lie" on their bottle such as "product created in 1833 by one guy. Decades later, company buyouts, several reformulatings and mashbill changeup we PROUDLY give you Dr James crow's original recipe from the 1600s for 10 dollars"

Shit like that. Not so much taste as bourbon can't actually be fake either as with bonded

Saying you couldn't care less requires the words themselves to be typed or said. This can be quantified as caring more than the person who also didn't care to the maximum degree possible but didn't type or say the words "I couldn't care less".

So just by saying it you are automatically incorrect...there is a small sliver of care you put into something that you could have not done...if you only cared a little less.

I couldn't care less because it is mathematically impossible because I care the absolute minimum that can be cared and any 'less' would actually be caring but in the opposite direction such that a graph of the caring function would be a parabolic curve with y reaching its vertex at x=0.

Is that clear enough?

Could care less - you do care at least a little and that level of caring can be reduced.
Couldn't care less - either you do care at least a little and you will always care at least that much, or you don't care at all.

It means you could not possibly bring yourself to care any less than you already do; there's no such thing as negative caring.

Not necessarily? If a person says they couldnt care less about their kids, it could mean they care a whole lot and are incapable of caring less about them. The minimum possible amount care isnt always an absolute zero amount of care.
