Hello all, I'm seeking much needed advice as I have no idea what to do

I've accepted I can't go to American and live out my recent dreams interning for Dan Crenshaw

I'm thinking about joining the Marines, with Navy being my close second choice, with hopes of getting into USNA after my "medical ban" is lifted

Either that or I can go to University of Delaware which will cost about 20 grand. Then I can apply to West Point again and get into the prep school since they don't uphold the same medical standard.

UD is a good school but I personally don't like it nor delaware itself.

I'm still waiting to hear back from VMI to see if I can go there depending on how much it costs

edit: Forgot one. University of Houston fucked up my application so I'm still waiting on a decision. If I choose them then I can go there since they're pretty cheap, it's in a city I like, and my oldest sister is moving there too

Help me find something to do. I feel so empty at the moment. I want the emptiness to go away

If you're thinking about military service, first spend at least six months training and getting fit so basic doesn't beat you to death. Focus more on endurance training than gaining mass. Dense muscle is treated like fat in their outdated weight guidelines.

Having a STEM degree, that is electronic engineering, my recommendation would be to learn a trade, or some skill that's truly in permanent demand in places you would like to live. That doesn't mean work as a phone slave in a call center, as the only reason they're always hiring is because the job is absolute hell.

"Dress for the job you want to have" applies here. If you show up in shape, it indicates that you have some level of personal discipline, and basic will just be more of what you're used to, or a few steps harder. Much less of a shock to your system than going from minimal physical exertion to borderline heat exhaustion.

I'm in decent shape, just gotta get back on the grind. I stopped working out about three months ago and combined with my awful eating habbits I certainly lost a lot muscle mass

They literally do not give a shit. The whole point of basic training is to teach you discipline and get you in shape.

Yes and no. There's a limit. I was little out shape but passed all the fitness tests. One guy there was pretty out of shape and they just failed him on the spot. He wasn't obese, but they sent him home from the MEPS building right then and there without any testing

Thats on the recruiter then, and it probably depends on what year you went in. I enlisted in the middle of a troop surge in early 08, so they needed every body they could get, so a lot of the fatties made their way in.

I stopped working out months ago, but when I was at my peak I could do 9 pull ups, 65 crunches, and a 12-13 min one and a half mile run is that OK? It's gonna take me awhile to get back up there though
