Haha well almost every steel type has that distinct silver/gray color that says hey guys Im obviously a steel type see all my shiny steel much like how you assume red Pokemon are fire types

to be fair they've been working with 2 screens since Gen 4 and on top of that the current trend in all games is to make minimalistic UI straight out of an Apple store

i mean it's not great but it's basically on par with modern gaming

The last time they didn't reveal the cover legendaries' typings right away was because one of them was a new type.

Then again I think it took awhile for Zekrom/Reshiram's types to be revealed too.

The wolves remind me of Repede from Tales of Vesperia. Dogs and wolves using swords (or knives) isnt too uncommon in Japanese stuff really.

I think I would just prefer them to not be solid white bars. Like make it some other color or maybe make it translucent and I'm sure I'd like it better. As it is the name bars look like something you'd see on the cover photo of a news article.

I now want the origins to be that Sword Wolf and a bunch of other wolves came through some interdimensional portal and were like "Okay guys we'll have to get new weapons when we get there" but Shield Wolf was like "fuck that i love this shield SHIELD BROS FOR LIFE" and went through the portal with it and that's what happened

I still give them until the end of June to reveal a new Eevee. If there isn't a new Eevee revealed by the end of June, the odds of a reveal go way down afterwards.

What's nice is the Pokemon they revealed probably aren't found on Route 1, which means more news next week when E3/Treehouse footage probably shows us those. Well I suppose Corviknight could be the evolution of the regional bird, but I get more of a Braviary vibe than a Pidgeot.

Based on the images from the Sword/Shield website, we get to see the HP for several of the new Pokemon. Based on that, here's the potential base HP stat range for some of the new Pokemon:

Drednaw: 80-95
Corviknight: 93-109 (Level 60)
Corviknight: 91-106 (Level 50)
Eldegoss: 55-72
Scorbunny: 48-64 (Level 14)
Scorbunny: 35-58 (Level 6)
Grookey: 38-56
Grookey: 105-123 (Dynamax)

Corviknight seems like a pretty bulky Pokemon, and with a higher base HP stat than Skarmory.

-Not sure how the wild areas will work, they look kind of empty? I know people are against "corridor dungeons" that Sun and Moon had, but a empty open world is worse imo

One thing about tall grass is it looked like maybe they're not random anymore? As in it looked like maybe the only way to encounter the Pokemon was by moving into the ! that appeared, and if you just walk around it then you avoid battle?

My hype for this is utterly flatlined. I keep trying to give Pokemon a chance because I feel like I'm "supposed" to like it, but the postgame has been so nonexistent lately beyond just the same competitive battle with progressively easier breeding.

I dropped both ORAS and S&M within a week of finishing their stories and even those stories were pretty weak experiences, so I'd really need something amazing to draw me in to this one and I'm just not seeing it.

A console -even a console/handheld hybrid- getting a mainline Pokemon game is monumental. Many people have been pining for this for two decades, or close to it. No matter how safe Game Freak and The Pokemon Company play it, it's still going to be a huge release and sell by the truckload.

...so of course, they're playing it as safe as possible, from the looks of these trailers. This was 100% expected by everyone, but it's still hard to be excited for, y'know?

The last few gens of Pokemon (and Let's Go) have gone on sale far more often than the earlier gens. I'm willing to pay a $30-40 sale price for this, because - holy shit, Pokemon on a CONSOLE! But I just can't justify full-price for this series anymore.
