Great News BotFans! BattleBots is back! Our 2019 season will begin airing on Discovery Friday, June 7th and Science Channel Wednesday, June 12th (with extra footage!). The new season will be two blocks of 8-episodes (16 total with a mid-season break). Each episode will be 2-HOURS LONG complete with incredible fights and amazing behind the scenes footage from the Pit (where the robots are repaired between battles). Dont miss the all new, Botastic, 2019 BattleBots!"

I see a few full body spinners there. I expect most of them to tear themselves apart. That Chronos bot in particular. It's a full body spinner with a wedge. If it gets the perfect strike it should fling enemies around, but if it gets a bad strike, that bot will be flung around instead.

Also, that bot Mammoth.... It's just a bunch of welded triangle bars. It appears very unwieldy. If that thing gets paired against Duck.... I may actually fall asleep for such a match.

Seems a fair number of folks are going for overhead hammer/axe weapons. The skill to payoff ratio for those always seems so low.

Lastly, I see some comedy relief is returning with Double Jeopardy.

The absence of Team Hurtz and Team Razer this season is a shame, since those two teams are absolute legends that are ingrained into the culture of the sport. It's nice to see Nightmare coming back though, they're another classic. I'm also still not sold on Team Whyachi splitting their resources between two bots, a new flipper (Hydra) and old reliable Son Of Whyachi. But who knows?

Cobalt looks like an absolute monster. Team Carbide already has a championship and two more runner-up finishes in UK Robot Wars with Carbide, plus a championship in China's This Is Fighting Robots tournament with Tungsten. All they need is a BattleBots championship and they have the triple crown complete. They're already the greatest robot combat team in the world today, but a BattleBots victory could make them the greatest ever.

Speaking of teams coming over from the UK, Ragnarok and Foxtrot are two newcomers to look out for. The team behind Ragnarok made the grand finals of Robot Wars with a previous bot, Concussion, and the guy with the mohawk on their team also helped with Monsoon in the last season of BattleBots. Team Foxic has entered Robot Wars and other tournaments with a bot similar to Foxtrot before (it did better than expected) and they also entered with a huge spinner that spontaneously exploded one time.

Still, don't underestimate these guys.

But the newcomer bot that I'm most hyped for is Railgun Max. That team from China has been crushing competition across Asia and across multiple weight classes. One of their smaller bots, Railgun S, is a former middleweight champion in its own right. Plus, the team are a bunch of weebs and their bot is named after an anime girl, so that just makes me like them even more.

Railgun Max vs. Overhaul in a battle of weeb bots would have been fun, but sadly Overhaul isn't competing this season.

That was UK Robot Wars, and only before they were cancelled for the first time back in 2004. But yes, I remember Craig Charles. He was an awesome host.

Biohazard has been dead for a long time. Not just retired, but actually damaged beyond repair by a powerful spinner named Megabyte. If you were a big Biohazard fan, then cheer against Gigabyte this season, because that's the same team that murdered Biohazard and feels no remorse for it.

Yeah, besides Team Hurtz and their two awesome bots (Beta and Terrorhurtz), overhead hammer/axe bots have mostly underachieved over the years.

Looks like it's going to air Fridays on Discovery Channel, then it'll be replayed the next Wednesday on the Science Channel. So the same schedule as last year. I was the one who was making the topics last year, and I'll try to keep a general topic going as much as I can this time as well.

I decided to look up to see if there were any updates on a new seasons today and created this topic when I saw there were none on the board.

Season 3 (last season) can be watched on Science channel website.
