and gonna have the best waifus in the party, any suggestions which ones?

i played the beginning years ago but never got into it, gonna try a full playthrough

and are there any good mods to download for pc?

I'd actually recommend picking another class. Soldier was what I used for the same exact reason you're picking it. But I discovered when playing that Biotics are the true joy of Mass Effect. So my party always had Liara in it just because I loved using her Biotics so much. Plus the pistol is actually the best weapon and every class can use that well I believe.

But if you do go with Soldier the game will still be good. I've never gotten around to playing Mass Effect a second time though, so I regret not picking Adept instead.

Tali is best girl, so use her as much as possible.

Make sure you get either charm or intimidate maxed out relatively quickly, as theyll make some things ridiculously easy and guarantee you unlock the best party member in the game pretty late (you guys know what Im talking about)

Dont not spam your and your allies abilities. Stuff like sabotage, the shield-breaking ability, etc, are all completely bonkers and break the game with proper application.

1 - For Soldier, since you're only gonna get two shots max before your sniper rifle overheats, might as well go all-out with damage: look for High Caliber Barrel or Scram Rail mods, along with Explosive Rounds. As the saying goes, "If you're gonna go, go all out!"

2 - Tali is bae. Plus she's really good with a shotgun and has a great Tech rating. Liara will round you out with Biotics; Ashley is a good character IMO, but since you're a soldier she doesn't bring anything to the table for you as a Soldier.

Also, equipping Frictionless Materials and Snowblind Rounds into a pistol gives you infinite ammo (since the rounds cool the weapon down before it can overheat.)

I prefer AR/Shotgun or Pistol/Shotgun

Sniper Rifles in ME1 feel kinda meh unless you're playing Infiltrator(the sniper class)

Especially not Sniper Rifles, they're the absolute worst weapon type in the game. If you like sniping stuff, wait until MEs 2 and 3 for that.

Since you say you're going Soldier, allot talent points in such a way so that you unlock Immunity ASAP. Once you have that(supplemented with Adrenaline Burst, which is unlocked earlier) the whole game turns into a cakewalk, you can literally run around the game shooting stuff while laughing non-stop with no concern for your health, as anything short of a Thresher Maw or bumrushing Krogan will just bounce harmlessly off you, even on the hardest difficulties.

I was a fan of sniper rifles in ME1 just because so much of the game was planethopping through open terrain. But that is more of a playstyle preference. It's probably just to mow through mooks with the Mako anyway.

Ashley and Liara are the only love interests.

Ashley is male only.
Kaidan is female only
Liara is bi.

Liara is way better.

Tali is best girl but she can't be fucked in ME1

Sniping in ME1 is really fun

Also a lot of people find the amount of dialogue and confusing layout of the Citadel difficult.

IF you're struggling with that then stick with it because it's a fantastic game

to add to the Sniper being shit thing.

atleast in ME1, they had a mechanic that if you have low stats in Sniper, your zoomed in reticule will sway and bob like you're on a ship in a stormy sea, so it's just becomes all about timing the shot for when it goes over the target.
it sucks.

More important, there is an inventory limit. Game doesn't tell you that until you are close to hitting it. I think a lot of people found that out the hard way when in the middle of a long-ass mission and no way to sell it.

You can turn items into Omni Gel tho

You can also upgrade your weapons and ammo with modifcations

A lot of people seemed to miss this

It hurts me whenever I see people pick the Soldier class but to each their own. Definitely work on your charm/intimidate ability. It is rather important for some choices.

Depends on Paragon or Renegade.

Stick with one.

The discount at ships sounds nice but ultimately irrelevant. Last time I played 1 my whole squad had the best weapons in the game including ones they didn't use and I still had Max money.

Charm is paragon and intimidate is renegade. Pick the one based on your playstyle and put all the points into it. Dividing points between them can lock you out of important choices later in the game

Some people will say you HAVE TO pick one or the other 100% to max out the stats and get the best results.

I'm personally more of a "do what you feel like" person.
You wanna save the innocent but also punch someone in the face? You go do that.
That's what makes a well rounden character experience.

Besides, there is a way to cheese it so you can max out both the Paragon and Renegade bars in a few minutes
(Unless they fixed that)

Oh right, IIRC acting like a boyscout or a Devil to people will do nothing but give you a few free points in the Paragon/Renegade skill. Am i remembering that correctly?

IIRC, you only get half the XP for killing enemies in the MAKO. To gimp this restriction a bit, you can whittle down an enemy's health in the MAKO then jump out to deliver the killing blow on foot. Full XP and a cheap way out of some difficult fights.

I recall that being an easy edit in the ini file or something with notepad, at least, so don;t have to step out for the last hit.

It's been a while, but I think having more points in P/R unlocks further levels of Charm And Intimidate, and those levels let you do the harder speech checks.

Then 2 has only the P/R scale.

Then 3 has Reputation as well as the scale, so you have freedom to act how you want since Rep is what counts for checks.

Best class is Soldier, though more power to you if you like the more tactical Biotic playstyle. Best waifu to have on your team is Tali. If you're planning to get some achievements, try to have a consistent party for the whole game - you get a trophy/achievement for completing 75% of the game's missions with the same character/s, and there's an achievement like that for all six party members.

Liara is kinda naive and a little ditzy even? But she's really smart and level-headed. Ashley is like a space Christian, and kind of a bigot, but she gets better. Tali is kinda snarky, very tech-savvy, and her race are some of the more interesting aspects of the ME lore.

Kaiden is kind of boring, but his heart is in the right place. Garrus is very witty and dry, and he always has a good story to tell. Wrex is a big, bad motherfucker, and he has really good shields and decent shotgun damage.

Pretty sure you can still max both Renegade and Paragon using a little exploit during a side mission.

If you don't care so mich about using exploits though, then just pick one or the other (maxing both taxes you in ME2 anyway IIRC).

Don't be afraid to turn the difficulty down. General consensus is the RPG/combat parts are inverse to each other. ME1=great story, bad combat. ME3=bad story, great combat.
