Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) is reportedly prepared to break with the Democratic Party to sign a bill banning abortion after a fetal heartbeat detected if it passes a final vote in the state House, The Associated Press reported.

The proposal awaits a final vote before it heads to Edwardss desk. The legislation would ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is around the six-week mark, before many women even know they are pregnant.

The procedure would be allowed if the pregnant womans health is in serious risk, but not for pregnancies caused by rape or incest, AP noted.

They often don't, which is the point of this bill. They want to trap women into keeping the baby.

Bel Edwards is being a real asshole over this. He wants to point fingers at the AG for going along with the states getting rid of ACA and pre-existing conditions protections but then allows this tripe. He wants to win re-election so bad that hes going to ruin himself.

These are states that care about college football more than they care about education and infrastructure.

These are the states that are the bottom of the barrel in everything

You'll never see the more populated rich states like Illinois, New York, California, etc... do anything like this.

Lol right? China has millions of people still in modern day slavery but it's for some reason a bad thing trying to stop our reliance on their slave goods

There's a lot of space between the existence of slavery and constitutionally-mandated racial equality under the law.
