a few years ago a glitch was found in mario rpg called the switch glitch
take 2 party members that are about to level up with one of them about to learn a spell
try to open the menu at the same time as you hit a star power box. you arent supposed to be able to be in the menu during the invincible mode. if you hear the star music while in the menu you know you succeeded

take the 2 characters that are about to level up (they both need to be in your active party) and switch their places
then run into enemies and get the level ups from the star
once you level up the game gets confused since you switched the party slots when you werent supposed to be able to
so it will try to correct itself and end up giving the magic to the wrong character

people use it to make peach more overpowered than she already is by giving her an attack spell from mallow to make use of her high magic stat

or give her a spell of bowsers just for the novelty of seeing it be useful for once

It was good. More than anything it just didn't have any big flaws.

For example, the villain reveal. It happens at the very end of the game, and he's cool and impressive and stuff, and the smithing thing totally works for this kind of game, especially since it does have a bit of foreshadowing and parallelism. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Contrast with my favorite JRPG ever, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. The villain reveal was possibly the greatest moment in video game history, even after losing points for the dude looking like a total dork. It's the turning point in the story, the part where the tone first shifts, the initial culmination of a series of power level one-ups, a clear assault on the sanctity of the world, an identity reveal, a deepening of the mystery and a horrifying tip of the scales all at once.

Frigging love that game.

This!

Man, it was my very first RPG, so RPG mechanics like leveling up and equipping armor made no sense to me. I was like 9 years old when I first played this game. I remember reaching Boyer in the Forest Maze and getting stuck on that first for literally 2 months. I would try him a few times everyday and just couldn't understand that I was too under leveled to beat him. Eventually, I leveled up enough while running back and forth between him and Rose town to pick up pick me ups.

Then later, I got stuck on the axem rangers for a week or two.

It wouldn't be until yeaaaaaaaars later that I'd finally get the 100 super jumps and fully complete the game. The super jumps are a really fun accomplishment, but the prizes you get break the game so completely that it's almost not worth it. Almost.

using her for any length of time will show that to you so its not like her being overpowered is a big secret as her healing skills prove their worth right away

its the fact that with her frying pan weapon she is as good at physical damage as mario, and with her psyche bomb she is as good at magical damage as mallow that is the less obvious reason she is overpowered

and the completely overpowered lazy shell armor

but her healing being great is obvious from the start

as a kid i always used bowser and peach
sometimes id use geno over bowswer
once i got bowser mallow left my battle party and never was used again
except in nimbus land

mallow is always in my party for nimbus land which is his last hooray since her goes right back to the bench once valentina is beaten

also i always found it weird that her boobs jiggled when you hit her
