Everything has been foreshadowed to be leading to Dany becoming the Mad Queen in both the books and the show. She literally said in season 2 that once he dragons were bigger she would start burning entire cities to the ground.

The only reason she didn't go all Mad Queen earlier is because her advisers had a bit better control of her. Now with her moral compasses pretty much dead (especially Salmy and Jorah), she's lost it.

I was a expecting this turn and don't see how anyone didn't really see it coming.

Some females simply will not understand this episode and their feminine nature. This is just reality of if a women becomes that powerful. Her emotions and love affairs will come into play(which never really should in politics) and everyone she is supposed to protect and guide will be hurt and killed.

Is this the biggest pill that a mainstream TV audience has ever seen?

No, it was actually about belonging to certain lienage. But some people sure would like to see it that way

tbh, the only episode I didn't really care for this season was the third one, and that's mostly because I don't like drawn out battles.

...but I liked the "battle" in this one mostly because it was more of a massacre signifying a lead's heel turn.

Dany was capable of soloing all of Cersei's forces with her dragon, so everything else was pretty much overkill

I think its because episode 3 was annoyingly dark, ridiculous-borderline incompetent battle plans, everybodys motive is just to survive, and an unsatisfying subverting expectations moment

Whereas in this episode it was daylight, the plans are sensible but fall apart amidst the chaos, people we care about are on both sides & have different motives. And most of the surprising moments were drastic but within reason.

Then what was the point of Euron sniping the second dragon?

I mean, if you value science and medicine there are studies that show women tend to make decisions more on feelings than rationale, where as men tend to be better at making decisions based on logic and reasoning and are capable of making harder decisions.

Not saying certain individuals are incapable of breaking the mold. It just so happens that certain groups are known to do certain things a certain way.

There were already articles by some writers basically being mad that Daenerys wasnt going down the morally righteous, progressive route of a female ruler that everyone should love and bow down to. After this episode (5), I wouldnt be surprised if they blame it on misogyny, when its more likely that D&D are morons who wanted to end the series as quick as possible.

my biggest gripe with E5 is the pacing WRT the series ending. it's like one of those RPGs that's like 80 hours long but you don't even know who the final boss is until the last 30 minutes of the game. it's unsatisfying.

This is one hell of a major plot point, I think its more likely that Dany burning Kings Landing was among the things George RR Martin told D&D. But how it was handled was due to D&D rushing the last two seasons.

I thought it was a great episode. I wasnt surprised at what happened because I have read the books and it foreshadows it. That said, I do wish they had another season to further build up Danys madness. I get that her advisors and those she loved kept her in check. But it was too rapid of a change. It was like she realized they were all dead and went hulk on everyone. It would have been better to build up more. Even the mad king didnt go totally mad within a few days like that. It built up for years.

What idiot will cry misogyny in game of thrones? Game of thrones clearly caters more to females than males.

She postponed taking Kings Landing to come to the defense of the northerners who are largely ungrateful & would rather have Jon as king.

1. She lost most of her armies
2. She lost her closest advisors
3. She lost her closest friends
4. She lost two of her dragons
5. She found out that Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne, her lifes goal
6. She was betrayed by Jon for telling his family the truth about his parentage.
7. She was betrayed by Varys who was spreading that truth (presumably sent by ravens throughout Westeros)
8. She knows that she is not loved or welcomed in Westeros and is only feared
9. The last person remaining who ever showed her love refuses to do so now that he knows theyre related.

Shes practically alone in the world & her last advisor is in fear of going against her.

She had a moment filled with rage and she snapped.

I think the problem with her fans that they saw her as unrealistic virtuous queen and savior of the people. Her burning it all was the best conclusion to series

Most people wouldn't murder thousands of women and children because they're angry. She would have been justified if she dropped the Red Keep on top of Cersci's head. Hell, you could even say she would be justified in massacring the Lannister army. The moment she started cooking innocents she became a fucking psychopath who deserves a painful death.

Hopefully Jon removes her head from her shoulders next episode.
