I haven't drunk one since they discontinued Josta. Then again, there weren't things called "energy drinks" back then, but I believe it would have been classified as one.

I haven't had one in about a year. Even then it was only a couple a week at most. I don't get the energy boost and they're too expensive to justify their price.

I have never had a single energy drink in my entire life.

I rarely even drink basic soda.

Big surprise: I am healthier than literally everyone around me. It's kind of awesome.

I remember taking a single whiff of a Redbull many years ago (because my friend offered me a sip), and I almost threw up. Seriously. It had FUMES in it.....so sweet and tart and borderline medicinal quality to it. It just smelled wrong. Like something you should NOT put in your body. Unless you are a hummingbird.

And I remember smelling a Monster energy drink when this fat dude on a plane was chugging one next to me.

Disgusting.

Plus, I could see how everyone around me was addicted to them. And I wanted no part in that.

I'm telling ya, the dangers of energy drinks are going to really start revealing themselves within the next decade or two, with all these kids now who have grown up with them since they were toddlers.

There's a reason America has 8 year olds with diabetes. There's a reason ADHD is on the rise. And obesity has ALWAYS been on the rise.

Change your habits, kids. Before you die.

None. I use to drink Red Bulls when younger. But they were too expensive to keep buying. When I was in tech school, I remember trying Monster, since it was like the thing everybody was drinking. It didnt give me an energy boost, nor was it good. Though, every once in a while, I would drink the lemonade+tea monster when they were out of soda in the snack bar. But I think that was like years ago.

It does say per week. I know lots of people who drink more than that, but only drink when doing something. Or at work. Or only when they think they need the energy boost. So, it wouldnt be weird for him to not have one today if hes not currently working or if he doesnt need the energy boost...

It depends on availability for me. When I was working at The Home Depot and they were just right there in the refrigerators by the check stands I would have at least one every day. Some days it would be two. Always choosing the ones with the most caffeine.

The only thing available where I work now is original Monster in the vending machine and that stuff is pretty nasty stuff and I can't be bothered to stop and get any on my way to work so I don't really drink them anymore. Unless I'm going to see my ex. I'll stop and get a Rockstar Punched before going to see her. So maybe two a month now.

This might surprise you, but energy drinks are drinks full of water. Drinking one can doesn't make you produce 500+ml of piss, any dieretic effect doesn't offset the water volume.

(Also I drink zero calorie)

Drinking a beverage not designed to hydrate will not hydrate. But you'll do some more mental gymnastics to defend your precious.

Doesn't have to be a diuretic to be isotonic with blood and therefore not do anything to hydrate you.

I usually make my own.

4 tsp matcha (green tea powder)
1 packet each of sugar, aspartame, sucralose, and stevia
2 scoops Benefiber (optional)

Add a small amount of hot water and stir until everything is dissolved. Add ice cubes and stir to chill the mixture, then fill the glass the rest of the way with milk and stir to mix it all together.

The matcha doesn't actually dissolve, so you'll need to stir every few minutes otherwise it'll separate out.

Has about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, but it's also loaded with L-theanine, which negates some of the jittery effects of caffeine and improves mental focus.

Using multiple types of sweetener cancels out the bad aftertaste while cutting 75% of the calories. Benefiber is a type of fiber supplement that is tasteless, colorless and flavorless but adds 1/4 of your daily fiber requirement.

Then let me cite another observation.

I drink very little at the best of times, energy drinks are a large volume of my water intake and yet I'm not dehydrated and my piss is clear.

I mostly drink the ones that pretend to be "healthy," which I'm sure isn't true, but they are probably slightly less bad. Still tons of caffeine but zero sugar and an assortment of vitamins or whatever.
