"Jump rope?"

"Yeah~! Jump rope!" the older great-grandchildren say.

"Jamp wope!" the youngest cheer.

Raven smiles and giggles at the cuteness again.

"Then make sure to eat up," Great-Uncle Al says.

The children finish eating their grapes while you and Raven have your fill of the dakos and meatballs.

"Delicious," you say. "Thank you, Great-Uncle."

The great-grandchildren lead the way outside from the dining hall, to a very lush and green garden. One of the older great-grandsons fetches the colorful jump rope and brings it over.

"Who wants to go first?" he asks.

"We'll let the children go first," you say as you take the rope.

You give Raven the other end and then you stand apart, giving the rope just enough slack.

"What kind of jump rope rhyme will it be?" he asks.

You and Raven both think.

"I might have one," she says. "Here, let's get going and you can follow along."

You and Raven start moving the rope, and the children line up by height. The oldest and tallest times it, then jumps in.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re," Raven sings, "what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4."

You join in counting as the great-grandson jumps.

"12, 13, 14, 15, 16-"

"Oh...!" he says as the rope catches him on the foot.

"A very good start," you say. "Okay, let's keep going."

You and Raven get the rope going again, and the great-granddaughters talk in a little huddle. They then break and the oldest jumps in.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re," you sing with Raven, "what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2-"

At the count of 2, the next great-granddaughter jumps in, and the same at 3 and 4. All four now jump together as you and Raven count past 5.

The four great-granddaughters jump together, smiling and laughing each time, but the youngest falls behind and the rope catches her at 12.

"Aww..." the four say, but still giggling.

Last but not least, the youngest of them all steps up for his turn. Raven has that "so cute" smile again.

"Here, let's move in a little closer," you say.

You and Raven move in a few steps and reduce the slack. You and Raven start slowly, and he hops in with a big smile.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re," you and Raven sing again, "what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-"

The rope already taps the little fellow on the foot.

"Aww..." he says but with a big grin.

"That was really good, Andres," one of the great-granddaughters says to him, to which he chuckles bashfully.

"Okay, now you two get to go," the oldest great-granddaughter says as she takes the rope from you.

"Alright," you say.

"Ladies first," you say.

"You just want to see me bounce," Raven blushes with a half-smirk.

"I would never," you jokingly defend.

You stand back as the oldest great-grandchildren start up the rope. Raven works on her timing and jumps in.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re," you and the great-grandchildren sing, "what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-"

Raven keeps her bosoms from moving too much by putting a hand on the top. However, she can really only contain one so the other flops under her shirt on its own. It makes you chuckle, and you almost lose count.

"8, 9, 10, 11-"

The rope takes Raven's heels.

"That wasn't so bad," you say.

"For you," she says with a pursed-lip smile. "Your turn, finally."

The rope starts up again, and you jump in.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re," Raven sings with the great-grandchildren this time, "what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20!"

"Go, go, go!" the youngest great-granddaughter cheers.

"21, 22," the group keeps counting. "23, 24, 25, 26, 27-"

The rope taps you on the ankle.

"Wow~!" the great-granddaughters all marvel.

"Cheretisms!" a voice calls from in the house. "Where's Rory?"

"Out here," you call through the doorway.

You wait as you hear the person walking over. It starts to sound like high heels. A young woman walks into view, wearing heels with short pants and tiny tanktop. Her wavy black hair goes to the elbow and she jangles and rattles with her many bracelets and her big hoop earrings.

"Nella, is that you?" you ask.

"Rory!" she says excitedly.

Nella runs over to you with the short steps of a young woman in heels.

"It's been so long~!" she says as she hugs you. "But you don't look that different, actually. Same snow white hair and icy blue eyes."

"Well, you definitely look different," you say. "And you look nice, actually."

"Thank you," she smiles.

"And let me introduce you to my lovely girlfriend, Raven," you say as you move aside.

"Hi," Raven says as she walks over.

Raven offers a handshake but Nella skips to a hug, which catches Raven off guard.

"It's so nice to meet you," Nella says.

"Y-Yeah," Raven says as Nella lets up on the hug.

"I'm pretty sure you weren't at the dock with the rest of the family," you say. "What were you up to this morning?"

"Oh, my friends and I were at the movies," she says. "Watching the very handsome Chris Hemsworth be that character with the lightning and the hammer."

"You mean Thor?" Raven says.

"Yes, that's right, Thor," Nella giggles. "Obviously we were more interested in Hemsworth."

"Do you want to join in?" you ask Nella as you lead the way back over to the great-grandchildren. "We really only just got started."

"Auntie Nella's no good at jump rope," one of the children teases.

"I'm good at jump rope," Nella defends with a wide-eyed laugh. "You all just can't keep up with me."

"Oh really?" you say. "Well let's see how well you do. Raven, let's take up the rope again."

You and Raven again have the jump rope and stand back. You two start it up while Nella takes off her heels to do this bare foot. Nella jumps in and everyone else begins singing.

"Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re, what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6."

Nella shows off a little as she skips and hops on one foot, then the other.

"7, 8, 9, 10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20! 21! 22! 23! 24-"

The rope taps Nella on the ankle.

"So close!" one of the great-granddaughters says. "Rory made it to 27."

"Oh?" Nella says. "Well, maybe I need to take this more serious."

"Wait, give us our turns again," the children say.

"Well alright," Nella says as she moves aside.

The children all take their turns, scoring 16, 16, 17, 14 and 10.

"Very good, Andres," Nella says with applause.

Little Andres chuckles and blushes as his young aunt congratulates him.

"Cheretisms," another voice says as you hear many people come in through the front door.

"Sounds like everyone else is here," Nella says as she fetches her shoes.

"Let's have them all join us here in the backyard," you say.

"You think this is the backyard?" Nella chuckles. "No, no, this is just the garden for the kids to play in while the parents are at work. Here, I'll show you the real backyard."

Nella goes into the house and you follow after.

"Cheretisms!" Nella says to everyone who just came home.

"Cheretisms," a lean young man with long black hair says. "Oh, Rory! There you are!"

"Is that you, Jonas?" you say.

You shake hands and hug your cousin while still following your other cousin.

"<Let's move things to the backyard,>" Nella says to everyone in Greek.

Nella leads the way to a different back door and walks out to a much bigger space. There's a nice gazebo and a fountain where birds splash and drink.

"Very nice," you say as you look around.

"Well, we know it's not as big as your fields and woods," Jonas says. "But it's just the right size for us."

You take Raven's hand and lead the way towards the gazebo.

"I like the stained glass," Raven says as she looks up at the gazebo's ceiling. "The light shining through it and the colors projected on the floor."

"Yes, a very lovely choice," you say.

"Yes, we've had this gazebo here since Al and I moved in," Great-Aunt Radella says as she walks over. "I designed it, he built it, and we enjoyed many a sunset here as we planned our future together."

"That sounds beautiful," Raven smiles softly.

"We sometimes still come out here and remember those old days," Great-Uncle Al says as he walks up beside his wife. "You know, something about you two standing in there reminds me of us."

Raven blushes as she looks at you with another smile.

"So we've heard from Grandmother all the fun from Uncle Ronald's birthday week," Jonas says. "When can we expect the wedding?"

"N-No," you and Raven both say.

"We're not going to rush it," you say.

"Yeah, we're not engaged, exactly," Raven says. "It's more like... Committed."

"Yes," you agree. "We are committed to each other."

"Calm down, I was just teasing," Jonas chuckles. "Obviously you weren't engaged yet, you don't even have rings."

"Oh, yeah," Raven chuckles as she looks at her hands.

You remember putting rings off for later, but something about how Raven touches her ring finger makes you wonder if you should start planning.

You'll work on crafting something fitting of Raven when you get the chance to be alone. Alchemy should help with a lot of that, plus Jewelcrafting.

"It's nice to finally have you visit," Farris, one of the older cousins, teases.

"As I've said," you say, "the little boy in Morocco, John Constantine, evil spirit of greed and gluttony."

"Can you prove that?" Jonas asks.

"Not without bringing everyone to Gotham and talking to Papa Midnite the Voodoo Doctor," you say.

"See now that sounds made up," Jonas smirks.

You frown but Raven chuckles.

"I believe him," Raven says.

"Let's talk about what's more important," Nella says. "How you two met! What was your first date? Just, everything!"

"Well, uh," you say with a nervous laugh.

"Everything is kind of a lot," Raven says with her own nervous laugh.

"Well, I suppose for me it starts with riding into the Bay Area of California," you say.

"Right, that day, the Teen Titans and I were responding to reports of a stolen generator taken from Kord Industries," Raven says. "We couldn't find it, but then a familiar foe appeared in a whole new mechanical suit. He calls himself Adonis, and he was suddenly wearing a shining gold version of his usually red suit."

"I came along while they were in the middle of fighting him," you say. "It looked like Raven was in trouble, so I helped her and the Titans defeat Adonis."

"I'm sure we would've found a way to win on our own," Raven says, "but it was rather fortunate Rorek came along and made it easier."

"And?" Nella asks, anxious for more.

"Well, not to bring up a different story," you say, "but Raven had a run in with Malchior, sealed away in Rorek the First's journal."

"What?!" just about everyone else blurts out.

"Seriously?!" Jonas says. "Rorek the First's actual journal?"

"Yes," Raven says.

"Well tell us that story, then!" Jonas says.

"After we finish our story of the first day," you say. "I assured her I wasn't some trick of Malchior's, and the other Titans welcomed me openly to the Titan's Tower. Raven took some time to warm up to me, but I was able to win her over with stories of the other Roreks."

"Well it wasn't like it was all the same day," Raven says. "But yes, learning more about the real Rorek the First, and all the Roreks after, did keep me hooked."

"And as she learned more about our ancestors, the more curious she became about me," you say.

"Aww, that's sweet," Nella says with a sweet smile.

"Yes, yes," Jonas says impatiently. "Now what about Malchior and The First's Journal?"

"Alright, fine," you sigh. "I suppose there wasn't much more to that story anyway. Raven, I leave your story of Malchior to you."

"Thank you," she says with a nod.

Raven starts from the beginning and goes in order. She mentions finding the book in the clearance sale bin, which does get a big laugh out of the Null-Xenos family like it did you. She mentions reading it with all the interruptions, and then hearing the voice of Malchior as he pretended to be Rorek.

"That slimy lizard, tricking a young maiden like that," Aunt Galatia grumbles.

"Well he had centuries to rehearse being Rorek the First," Raven says. "I'm sure any girl who grew up even a little like I did would've being tricked. But after he revealed himself, and after I got over my heartbreak, I used the very same sealing curse Rorek the First used against him to put Malchior back in the book."

"So you still have it?!" the relatives all shout.

"Well, no," Raven says. "Skipping to the end of another long story, Malchior ended up banished to another dimension, and he's still trapped there as far as I know."

"Oh," Radella says as everyone is relieved. "Well, then I suppose there's nothing to worry about."

"Are you sure?" Jonas says. "What if he finds a way out? He'd be able to wreak havoc wherever he appears. Aren't you worried about that?"

"Just a little," you say. "But really only because of that random chance. He could break through a dimensional wall in a populated area, but he could just as easily appear in a desert or the middle of the ocean."

"It has been quite some time," Raven says. "If Malchior hasn't broken through yet, I don't think he ever will."

"Or it's only a matter of time before he figures it out," Jonas says.

"Since when were you so negative?" you ask him.

"I'm just trying to keep the possibility in mind," he shrugs.

"Well, wait, how is it he'd be able to break through dimensions at all?" Cousin Phineas asks while he stands with who must be his wife, Oleisia.

"Part of the long story is that the journal was stolen from me," Raven says. "And the thieves gave Malchior the ability to transform back and forth between book, dragon, and... a paper facsimile of Rorek the First."

"What?" the others say in confusion.

"It was the paper body I made for him when I was being tricked," she adds.

"Oh..."

"But we'll be fine against that Dread Dragon," you say. "Raven and I together will be able to finally slay the beast."

You look to Raven and Raven looks at you, and you both give confident smiles as you hold hands again.

"Now, time for lunch!" Great-Uncle Al says. "What would everyone like?"

"Perhaps some gyros?" you say.

"Yes, I can whip those up lickity-split," Al says. "What would you like in them?"

"Pork for the meat," you say, "easy on the onions but strong on the pepper."

"Um, I'm fine with pork and onions," Raven says, "but light on the peppers."

"Okay, those will be right out," he says. "I already know everyone else's preferences, but I would appreciate some help."

"Of course, Father," Uncle Aniol says as he follows.

"Should we have picnic tables or blankets?" Aunt Jacintha asks.

"I'm a bit tired from work," Uncle Hector says. "Let's have tables."

Aunt Jacintha nods to Aunt Solona, and the two use Nature magic to create picnic tables and benches from the grass. There's even a smaller table for the children.
