"Well let's see how well you do. Raven, let's take up the rope again." You and Raven again have the jump rope and stand back. You two start it up while Nella takes off her heels to do this bare foot. Nella jumps in and everyone else begins singing. "Blackbirds, blackbirds, sitting on a wi-re, what do you do there? May we inqui-re? Oh, we just sit to see the day. Then we flock and fly away, by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6." Nella shows off a little as she skips and hops on one foot, then the other. "7, 8, 9, 10. 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20! 21! 22! 23! 24-" The rope taps Nella on the ankle. "So close!" one of the great-granddaughters says. "Rory made it to 27." "Oh?" Nella says. "Well, maybe I need to take this more serious." "Wait, give us our turns again," the children say. "Well alright," Nella says as she moves aside. The children all take their turns, scoring 16, 16, 17, 14 and 10. "Very good, Andres," Nella says with applause. Little Andres chuckles and blushes as his young aunt congratulates him. "Cheretisms," another voice says as you hear many people come in through the front door. "Sounds like everyone else is here," Nella says as she fetches her shoes.
