I'm actually really surprised at Treasure. I thought it was going to be a lot like Gunstar Heroes, but with more emphasis on bosses. Instead, there's a game that is much too hard right from the beginning, the guns run out of ammo almost straight away, an awkward weapon select system that can get you killed, and a camera that's so zoomed in you can barely see anything or move around easily.

Wtf is this? From the same people that brought as Gunstar Heroes, and that McDonalds shoot-em-up? Even Ikaruga was better than this. Now I see why it bombed.

The gameplay actually bringing something new to the table for the genre. Why, are you one of those guys that thinks Touhou is the pinnacle of shmups even though they play the same as the original 1942 but with more bullets on screen?

I've never played Touhou.

The GOAT shoot-em-up, however, is Bells and Whistles (Detana Twinbee). Brilliant game, really is. Beats even Gunstar Heroes.

Did you ever play that Astro Boy shooter on the GBA? That was treasure too and was also pretty good. You may also enjoy Radiant Silvergun if you can find a copy, which is the predecessor to Ikaruga and has a neat weapons system with level-ups between failed runs.
