As a dude with long hair, I have gotten called ma'am more than once (usually when i'm approached from behind) and never got offended by it

Im not sure why people need to get so offended by everything

Because she corrected him multiple times and he kept bullying her for no other reason than he's a fucking transphobic bigot.

I think you missed the point

It doesn't hurt you in any way, so just write the dude off as an asshole and move on with your life, sometimes people are assholes and you just have to accept that as part of life

he was browbeating her

no he wasn't: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/browbeat

also, i wouldn't call what he was doing cruel. insulting is more appropriate. but simply being mildly insulting is not the same as being a bully, ok?

"intimidate (someone), typically into doing something, with stern or abusive words."

Not from merriam, but they have been ass for some time now. Yeah, intimidation isn't a perfect fit, but every other part of the definition of bully fits him perfectly.

Except not at all, ok?

Like, youre ignoring the actual definition almost entirely and picking and choosing what works for your argument, ok?

I mean, I guess that's indicative of outage culture, as a whole, ok?

Are you serious? Every definition suits him perfectly except browbeat, and even that definition kind of suits him.

Damn, the mental gymnastics you people will go through to make this bigoted piece of shit look better is just straight up crazy. You sure you aren't Zeus? Oh wait, he would've came up with a crazyass reason why the lady is straight up a pedophile or some stupid shit just based on the fact that she's a transgendered woman.

Lol you're the one literally changing definitions and claiming mental gymnastics. There are two genders men and woman you either have a penis or vagina, that man has a penis.

Yep. This bozo convinced everyone in the store that the redneck stereotype is totally true, transgendered people are just crazy men wearing pink. That's why unnecessary bathroom laws are passed, that's why protections for the transgendered are rolled back, that's why antidiscrimination laws specifically exclude the transgendered. Way to go! Lets see. I think the guy was being kind of mean. Not the guys comment, as I have said that to a group of friends even when they were all female. But to continually call her sir. I would probably get mad if some one kept calling me maam to my face. Hitting boxes may have been an overreaction, as I think I would have left the store. And called the manager about it.

As for everyone saying everyone is doing mental gymnastics, Im not sure anyone is. Words have multiple definition based on how they are used. They dont all have to work. Like homonyms. An example of one is left. In this case, lihlih to one of the definitions. They took the whole A definition to see if it works. And it did. Thats what I think about that.

Also, for what she had in her pants, Idk. Maybe she had surgery already. But I wouldnt know from the video...

As for picking you battles, maybe she did. And maybe she normally walked away. And maybe she had been holding it in for too long and it just came out. Maybe she had a really shitty day, and that was the last straw. Its easy to say pick your battles. But much harder when you're in their positions...

In all seriousness, though... This is a prime example of outrage culture.
Also, if the patron who was threatened would have taken up the offer to "go outside" and actually fought with the lunatic, would he have been ostracized for striking a lady? How would this have gone down in court?

What, so every woman has to act a certain way for you to perceive them as a woman? No, of course not, but transgendered women do, because they're put on a different scale and they have to be the perfect woman before transphobic bigots can even consider the possibility of calling them by their correct gender.

I mean, the way he said it was kinda odd, but the message makes sense.

For example, if I met the transperson in the video, and I called them sir or he, they should say that's not their preferred gender pronoun. I will then refer to them as whatever they want me to.

the person in the video looks like a male to me, so I would refer to them as such unless corrected.

Why should that matter? You can see how they're presenting and you need more than clothing to 'be a woman'. If they dressed any other way then what would you say about the situation? It's just such a stupid thing. Kicking the display didn't help their case.

The "notduck" should also be polite regarding the easy assumption that it is a duck considering how greatly it resembles a duck.

quite possibly the dumbest thing i will read all week, ok?

Doubtful. He'll definitely make some posts before the end of the week

Really?

I mean, the way he said it was kinda odd, but the message makes sense.

For example, if I met the transperson in the video, and I called them sir or he, they should say that's not their preferred gender pronoun. I will then refer to them as whatever they want me to.

the person in the video looks like a male to me, so I would refer to them as such unless corrected.

But she did. And then he kept calling her sir afterwards.

Why should that matter? You can see how they're presenting and you need more than clothing to 'be a woman'. If they dressed any other way then what would you say about the situation? It's just such a stupid thing. Kicking the display didn't help their case.

But are we sure thats all it was. She could still be transitioning. Im not going to pretend to know that all she did was dress up like a woman. Nobody can make that claim unless they know her or somehow have more information.

Yeah, but people think they know more about other people than the actual people they're talking about.

I'm going to keep calling a duck a duck unless I personally know it doesn't like being called a duck, at that point I'll gladly refer to it how it wants. But the "notduck" needs to understand that most strangers will see it as a duck, until learning of its "notduck" preference. The "notduck" should also be polite regarding the easy assumption that it is a duck considering how greatly it resembles a duck.

We can't know. But we live in the present and the evidence comes from the video. I don't expect anyone transitioning to act like that. Then also in the employee's favor I don't believe 'the customer is always right'. They will push their luck and abuse others. So regardless of their choices people like that need to GTFO.

I get "misgendered" all the time, never made an issue of it and usually find it more comical than anything else.

Often parents get it wrong and then their children get it right. I just like how the kids are more perceptive and the parents seem to get really embarrassed then...

GFaqs mods are sawft

They interpret basic common sense as "victim blaming", so don't keep your standards particularly high.
