That game just totally fell of the face of the earth pretty much the moment it released... like to the point that it had been out like a week and I thought it was still pre-release. Games fail to live up the hype all the time but usually there is still a release bump. It's rare for you to hear about a game less immediately after it comes out.

Was it bad bad or just "Banjo-Kazooie isn't as good as you remember" bad?

This. The first world is for the most part passable, but after that it quickly devolves into a bunch of boring, half-assed, thrown together, ugly messes. I never finished it, and I have no desire to return to it.

This, but add in that my son accidentally deleted my save file. I think if I had never lost my progress I could've finished the game, but re-doing the first couple levels was too much to bear. Not a bad game, necessarily. Just nothing really special.

I love Banjo-Kazooie, but there probably isn't really any great way to do a modernized version of it.

I heard it had problems when it first came out. And they were trying to patch a lot of stuff. It took a while and some people had stopped playing it by then. Also, it was suppose to launch for Wii U, but when that failed, a bunch of people were mad. They were allowed to choose another system, but the Switch one took a while to come out for people who wanted it on a Nintendo system. After a while, most people were saying it was kind of lackluster, so a lot of the people who wanted it, but hadnt gotten it didnt want to get a lackluster games that took forever to come out (especially ones who wanted it for either Wii U or Switch) and just kind of forgot about it.

I would play it, but I dont want to buy it. If it goes to $20, I might consider it. If it goes less, Ill probably buy it...

On Switch, its only 35% off ($25.99). So that PS4 deal sounds good. I may just get it...

I have it installed on my PC, ready to play, but I've never played it.

Would it really be that hard to make a new banjo kazooie that is better than the first one? Literally just remake the game and change some shit. Make it look beautiful and the levels bigger and add some crazy secrets and stuff.

I second that Hat in Time is great. Much better than Yooka-Laylee, at the very least.

I beat it a while back. It honestly just felt dated. 3D platforming was never something I was really into, but now that Mario has kind of perfected the formula it just feels worse when you have to deal with the same slow paced, wonky camera mess from 20 years back. It also didn't help that the game was short as hell, you can beat it in like 6 hours if you rush through it and less then 30 if you try to 100% it.

I'm perfectly okay with short games, as long as they're good. My favorite game of all time is Super Metroid, and I can beat that in under three hours without much practice, having not played it in over a year. Not sure what the current records are but I'm pretty sure it's close to an hour for 100% runs. Maybe even under an hour.

I think 100% runs are at around 1:30 minutes (in game time about 40~45 minutes)

I always forget about Hat in Time. That's not on Switch though

It's mediocre at best. You can tell they developed the worlds in order cause the first two are pretty well laid-out, have nice density, etc; and they just get pretty lame from there. World 4 wasn't that bad actually and had a great theme but the entire map is just a massive square lol

The platforming itself is good, but it suffers from some serious design choices. I would say that it's at least worth $10 on sale, I wouldn't spend more than $20 on it though

I 100%'d it and I enjoyed it somewhat. I don't regret playing it, but dang is it a forgettable game.

I'd much rather play Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts again but that's mostly because I loved that game despite how different it was.
