Board 8 > Anyone watch the Chilling Tales of Sabrina?

So I went into this expecting total Riverdale-style schlock, but this show is actually really, really good. They take the Sabrina concept and go all in on the witch thing, with total dark arts, the backfiring of dark arts, and full on Satan worshipping. They don't pull any punches with this stuff.

The drama is actually really good and never really feels juvenile or too teen drama or anything like that. The characters are all actually outstanding too. I don't think there's a single character I actually dislike. And when they go with horror, it absolutely works and feels, well, chilling.

I'm currently on the last episode of the first season right now (not counting the Christmas episode they just released). Has anyone else watched this?

Watched it all. Found it pretty enjoyable even if some things weren't true to the original

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Holy hell does it go all out with the Satan worship though. Although not very religious leaning now, I was raised as a Baptist Christian, and this show made me feel uncomfortable with its satan worship and talk lol.

I liked it all especially towards the end when Harvey becomes more interesting. Still wish Salem talked though.

I mean they are witches

I quite enjoyed watching them act just like any Abrahamic religion only replacing God/Jesus with Satan

well plus cannibalism, but still it was an fun extreme take on outdated cultural traditions

plus through all the devil worship, he's very much portrayed as an antagonist to Sabrina's life

Glad other people seem to enjoy this show! I think what I'm most happy about this series is that Sabrina seems like a perfect witch who can do no wrong like she's untouchable, but it turns out they let her be flawed. It would have been really easy for them to keep letting her be the best.

Also, I think my favorite character is Zelda. Because when they have the nightmare episode we go through everyone's nightmare and it's some horrific stuff, and then Zelda's nightmare is just that Lucifer comes over and prefers Hilda's cooking to Zelda's and she just has this ridiculously overdramatic meltdown over it. It was the absolute best. Who is everyone else's favorite?

I'd just do the thing I do with my girlfriend. "Just watch one episode to see if you like it." It usually gets her to at least try it!

I heard Salem doesn't talk and it turned me away instantly. The buzz I'm hearing about the show's actual quality does have me curious, though!

It's just nothing like the old sitcom, so it makes sense that Salem doesn't talk. Plus there's another character that is basically a Salem stand-in and he's amazing.

That's literally how I have gotten her hooked on every show we watch together. She still fights tooth and nail to start shows she thinks she won't be interested in.

That's kinda my gripe though. I expected him to actually be Salem and there was nothing stopping them going down that route but instead they opted for the route they took.

Yeah but doing it this way provides a lot more freedom in the writing and makes Ambrose actually sympathetic
