i have friends who are shocked when i tell them i own most of the CoD games, but only play the campaigns, ok?

one buddy asked me once why i even buy them, and isn't a waste of money to not play the multiplayer, ok?

what do you think? is it a waste of money to buy an fps game without playing the multiplayer modes?

Because the campaigns are usually throwaway, sub-5 hour experiences that the devs only put in because some people will scream if they take them out?

Are you buying them day one for full price? Then absolutely. They'll be super cheap later on, and it's not like you're missing out on the community if you wait because you don't play multiplayer.

It's okay, I have no idea who I am either.

It's like buying fighting games just for the single player or learning card games like poker just to play by yourself,

I pity you.

no, the most i'll pay for these games, since they tend to be short, is $20, ok?

like, i just got battlefield 1 for $5 during a psn sale, ok?

CoD? I would wait until a considerable price drop as the campaign isn't worth 60 bucks to me. DOOM or even borderlands? Fuck yeah I think those games are great single player.

Yes and no. CoD is a waste of the plastic it's printed on, nevermind the money. No because I buy tons of games and skip the MP because if it's not a grind or empty then I'm probably in a rush to start another game.

CoD campaigns used to be ok but now they're pretty much trash as devs focus almost solely on multiplayer. The only shooters I can think of off the top of my head that still put at least some effort into campaign/story are halo and doom but even halo has gone downhill ever since the original trilogy

TC, the newest Wolfenstein games are right up your alley. There aren't even any multiplayer options at all in those games.

I do it, I actually like the single player in games like that because it is a good afternoon killer, not something you are going to have to play for long periods of time.

I do this as well (well, card games I play both ways).

People keep saying Call of Duty is good, but they're also really old so the multiplayer is dead since they moved to the new one...

So obviously they mean the campaign and not their nostalgia

Buying an FPS and not playing multiplayer is fine.

Playing an FPS which is explicitly designed for multiplayer and where what singleplayer DOES exist is mostly just half-assed tutorial for the multiplayer is more questionable.

This is me.

First of all, I dont think I was ever that good at video games, but now Im worse than Ive ever been. I dont want to mess up other peoples records and stuff. Moreover, gaming in general has always been a quiet activity for me, so Im not into chatting. When I do experience chatting, theres lots of teenager whooping my butt while swearing and calling me slurs.

Therefore, in my opinion, it is in fact ok for you to purchase any game and not engage with the online portion.

I sorta enjoyed shadowrun on the 360. Just barely though. Really wish it had a campaign. But at least you could fight against just bots.

Eh, I am probably gonna buy the new smash game because it has a single player mode that reminds me of the challenge mode in melee. I'm 32 now and don't have an local friends or interest in playing it multiplayer. I mean, I'll probably do it a few times with the wife but nothing wrong with preferring single player

As for fps, dude there are tons of single player fps experiences on the PC that aren't even designed for multiplayer. Play those

Fighting games I love and I don't do MP. It's my go to genre when im drunk cause I don't like playing story heavy games drunk. When I was younger I used them to vent anger in. A game all about punching a person's face in is good for that.

Hell I just bought street fighter 30th anniversary and have had a blast trying out the versions of games I didn't play back in the day like SF 3 and SF 3 2nd impact.

Original street fighter made me wanna rip my hair out though (and i believe that one is single player only)
