Pretty sure the vast majority of people do, just wondering.

Would be more interesting to ask who here doesn't own at least one piece of Ikea furniture.

I don't. I've never been in an IKEA and have no real desire to ever change that at this point in my life.

I do own modular furniture, though. Just nothing from them.

No. From popular references, it's a giant store chain famous for tacky laminated cardboard furniture that you need to assemble, sort of a combination of Kmart and Dave's Crazy Discount Furniture, but I don't know if it's real or mythical.

There isn't an Ikea within about 100 miles of my house, so no I don't. As far as the "furniture you have to assemble yourself" thing though, that is almost half of the furniture I own.

I've been in one once, but not for quite a while. Don't remember which location offhand, but it was somewhere in Michigan

I don't either as there isn't one anywhere near here. Have visited it once though for the food court.

We have IKEA plates, but we got them from Goodwill. You don't have to step foot in an IKEA to have their stuff.

Not that I think IKEA furniture is really nice quality or anything, but do people really think it's "cheap"? Cause it's still pretty damn expensive if you ask me. Maybe that's just all furniture, but fuck that noise. I have some stuff from IKEA but the rest is from the thrift store, talk about huge savings.

I should clarify, like yeah I have seen and know there is way more expensive furniture, but people act like IKEA is like the bottom tier of new furniture pricing, which is distressing if true since it's still like 20 to 50x more expensive than the thrift store

Yeah. You have to assemble their toilets and stalls before you use the washrooms there.

It's not fair to compare thrift store prices since almost everything at a thrift store is used. So you're comparing used prices to new prices, and that's not fair. When comparing strictly new prices, IKEA is definitely among the cheapest out there.

It makes sense too because IKEA uses particle boards instead of real wood, and the construction just isn't as good. Real wood and quality construction is going to cost more no matter what.

Most of my furniture is hard wood, so I probably wouldn't shop at IKEA even if it was close by. Even though you are paying more up front, the quality and how long it lasts more then makes up for it. If you buy something hardwood, you know it is going to last for as long as you are willing to keep it (hell, it will probably last long enough to pass it down to your kids if you want). It might get some scratches and scuffs, but you never have to worry about it falling apart.

I know but it's not all that hard to find thrift store stuff that's still in decent shape and much better quality than IKEA furniture

I dont. I dont have anything against them or anything. I just dont have any furniture from there. I have 3 couches, but two were from 2 different people. And the third, my grandma bought as a gift. My tv stands, I bought from Wal-Mart, I believe (years I between, though. And different types). Same as my dresser. My mom bought a couple of nightstands for me when she came to visit. Probably Wal-Mart or on base. Not really sure...
