It'd be easy enough to estimate how lethal it'd be. Sodium Chloride's LD50 is readily available knowledge, as is the sodium content of a serving of soya sauce (NaCl is about 40% Sodium by mass) and the volume of a bottle.

Hippies and yoga practitioners typically understand the dangers of a high sodium diet. I highly doubt your hypothesis. It's definitely those that think McDonald's is good eating.

I didn't say yoga practitioners. I said yoga moms, which is something entirely different. Those are the sort of person who would jump on the idea of cleansing fads.

That, and chugging a bottle of soya sauce isn't a high-sodium diet, it's sodium poisoning. If you can survive chugging the bottle and then proceed to ingest no other sodium for the next several days, you can still average out to have a reasonable amount of sodium in your diet. Understanding that a high-sodium diet would be unhealthy doesn't necessarily equate to understanding that a sodium-based detox regimen could itself be toxic.

So let us math:

3000 mg/kg NaCl is roughly 1200 mg of sodium
36,800/1200=30.7kg, or 67.5 lb

So that's enough sodium to kill a preteen reasonably reliably. A full-sized adult (for which a normal, healthy weight is typically in the range of 50-80 kg) should be okay, but it's risky territory, as the lady in that article found out the hard way. That's also not to say that such a rapid influx of sodium won't create other, potentially-lethal health problems.

That's just because I'm superior to the point you wouldn't understand. Those who consume pods or sauce are cutting themselves off the low end of the scale, something that will benefit us as long as we aren't stopping them.

What makes you think it isn't?

It's not that it isn't trying. People choose to smoke. We have medicine to prevent overdosing. Suicide hotlines. Now we'll see 'do not eat' warnings on various items. I don't mean for this to sound unnaturally cold but we're wasting resources trying to protect these lemmings, why?

If you aren't reproducing, you're a biological failure. The only way you can convince yourself otherwise is to not understand biology.

A tablespoon of typical soy sauce has 879mg of sodium, or about 36% Daily Value. A typical 15oz bottle of soy sauce has about 30 tablespoons, which would be about 26.4 grams or 10 times the recommended daily dose of sodium, which actually isn't that bad if you have healthy kidneys, don't have high blood pressure, and you only do it once.

I prefer reduced-sodium soy sauce which is less salty and more soy-saucy, though it still contains 520mg of sodium, or 25% DV, per tablespoon.
