There is zero reason to manufacture any of those goods. The entire industry is a waste of resources. You can maintain fitness without any of it.

And you can get to work without a car. Does that make the automotive industry a waste of resources?

Yes. There is zero reasons for 1000's of lots across the nation filled with cars that won't be sold.

I didn't ask if the automotive industry is wasteful. I asked if the industry is itself a waste, as you described the exercise equipment industry. Try again.

Yes, it's a waste because all those resources used to make all those unused cars are wasted, therefore it's a waste industry.

Thats literally everything. Theres food in stores that no one will eat and will go bad, too. So, should we stop selling food since some of it will be wasted? Should we stop making houses since some will stay empty?

Thats most food. That basically leaves canned food. Meat, veggies, and dairy all go bad. Lots of other things as well. Its not just an unpopular opinion. Its a dumb one. And what about the houses? No houses since some will stay empty, I guess...

We over produced and under utilized. Also much that is produced is processed into all that non-healthy foods you love. Imagine if it was made into healthy foods or not made to be wasted at all. You act like we can't streamline production to match consumption.

That's not at all what I'm asking.

-You said the entire exercise industry should not exist because people can exercise without equipment and it's therefore a waste
-As a hypothetical application of that same logic, I asked if the entire automotive industry shouldn't exist (read: no more cars anywhere ever) because people can get around without them and it's therefore a waste
-You start saying that the automotive industry is a waste because some of what it makes doesn't get used

How can I make this clearer for you, and why have you gone off on this ridiculous tangent instead of interpreting what I said as being a relevant analogy to what you said?

But you said get rid of wasted resources. Those same products can be used to make healthy foods. Like veggies. They dont last forever. And some good bad before they sell. Some is always going to be wasted. So, by your standards, we should get rid of any food that can go bad. That leaves only things with a high shelf life.

That was the question I originally asked. Why on Earth would I ask if you thought the auto industry was wasteful, given the context? I'm putting the goalposts back where they started, because you moved them to some other field.

Now that we're on the same page, are you going to answer the original question, or keep accusing me of fallacies you committed?

Fine. Let's pretend you answered my question. Good job, you're very clever and you should print out this topic so your mom can stick it on the fridge.

New question: since you feel that the entire exercise industry should cease to exist because people don't need exercise equipment to stay fit, do you similarly feel that the entire automotive industry should cease to exist because people don't need cars to get places?

We could do city planning to allow for the majority of the population the ability to walk to work and gathering of resources (aka shopping).

Creating an entire economy based on creating waste is fucking insane.

But that would cost way too much money. And if not done right, would be wasteful in itself. Not too mention, there will ALWAYS be waste as long as were not struggling for resources. And even then, there will most likely be waste. You cant not waste food because you never know how much youll need, for example. It would mean people would be without jobs. Or jobs they can do or work. What about people who have disabilities and need jobs. Theyll have to build so many houses in areas with no space. And waste resources by tearing down perfectly good houses because they need more job or shopping areas in places. The whole idea to destroy a city to rebuild it is wasteful. But thats what theyll have to do to do what you want...

DC makes superior films to Marvel

Whilst were on it, distinguishing between MCU and Fox or DC and Warner Bros or whatever is dumb. DC is DC, Marvel is Marvel. Dont matter who the production house is you can compare the films on a like for like basis. If I say Fantastic Four from 2000 and whatever is a terrible film I dont wanna hear waah it wasnt MCU.

Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z?

Because I agree if we're talking about Z. The fact that they kept Goku sounding like a high-pitched woman even after he became an adult is all sorts of dumb.

And now she's on the hook for four characters (Goku, Bardock, Gohan, and Goten)! I mean I'd get if they used her for Gohan and later Goten but...yeesh.

I appreciate role reprisals but there are limits.

Using Masako Nozawa for Bardock is an insult to his character. I can't take him seriously.

That's still not answering the question. Yes, more efficient city planning would be nice (albeit impossibly expensive), given the hideous inefficiency of the personal car as a regular mode of transportation. That's not, however, an answer to the question of whether or not the entire consumer automobile industry should be eliminated because people don't strictly need cars (an analogous suggestion to the one you made about the exercise industry).

If you don't like the car question, you may also consider one of the following analogies to address:
-The entire restaurant industry is a waste and should not exist. People can just eat at home.
-The entire entertainment industry is a waste and should not exist. People can just play catch with rocks.

In fact, I would argue that with the themes of individuality in Persona 4, the choice to go with full party control as the default (thus making every character essentially an extension of the player) was artistically bankrupt in ADDITION to being a cop-out.
