These college age kids literally think Seinfeld the show is too offensive for today and can't laugh at the jokes.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/college/2015/06/08/jerry-seinfeld-says-comedians-avoid-college-gigs-students-are-so-pc/37403583/

[The younger generation] just want to use these words," Seinfeld said. "'That's racist, that's sexist, that's prejudice.' They dont even know what theyre talking about.

I hear that all the time," Seinfeld said. "I don't play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me don't go near colleges they're so PC (politically correct).

Seinfeld proceeded to give an example.

"My wife says to [my 14-year-old daughter], 'Well, you know, in the next couple of years, I think maybe you're going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.' And you know what my daughter says? She says, 'Thats sexist.'"

When he said this, a lot of people disagreed.

Kinda hard to disagree after watching that video.

Honestly, Jerry is full of shit on this. It's more of this, "back in my day, we all knew it was just jokes!". It's simply not true. Literally and episode of Seinfeld got pulled from the air for being considered offensive. It hasn't changed, it's just easier to find and share, now.

People have been outraged about popular culture since long before any of us. Married ... With Children, All in the Family, etc. All had literal protests.

Jesus. I know for this particular shit, they were supposed to be analyzing the shows that way, but you know a couple of them watch all shows this way.

I also thought it was funny they were like "whoa, you can't just throw that word around these days". I don't know where the hell they've been these last couple of years.

I don't know of anyone who watched old shows and was like "wow, this show would not go over well today! this is terribly offensive and thus not funny"

Infact, the opposite was true as networks loved rerunning old shows. And people still laughed at the jokes.

And who did that? College students?

It appears it was a Christian mom who wanted people to "think of the children!"

No, the idea is more that kids tended to be less uptight than adults but that seems to have changed.

Like, this is expected behavior from a Christian mom but not really from a kid who likely smokes weed all the time if you get my drift.

Yeah, I already went over that;
- This sort of reaction isn't new.
- Jerry is conveniently forgetting that people got mad over his show 'back in his day'.
- The people bitching about people having different opinions is actually louder than any sort of 'outrage culture'.
- Sensibilities and humor change and reflect the times they are in. The only reason people are mad now is because it's politically convenient to be outraged about outrage.

Of course, I've already clearly stated all of this, so it's pretty clear you are just trying to pick a fight because you are so angry that someone might not like Seinfeld. For the record, it's a weird fucking hill to die on.

It's actually about a far broader picture than that but I'm not surprised your type is too short sighted to see it. It's about censorship in general and it pains me to see people on the left be calling for everything to be banned when they used to be all about freedom of speech and expression.

And please do stop with this idiotic narrative that the people attacking outrage culture are the louder ones. Most of the crying about how "offensive" everything is these days are self righteous white liberals crying on everyone else's behalf so they can pat themselves on the back for what great people they think they are. The vast majority of people don't agree with you.

You don't see the difference between people who protest against a show for pushing boundaries and groups who protest a show for exceeding the boundaries? You're giving a black hole a run for it's money in being the densest object in the universe.
