Busy Body Michigan Mom, Crystan Crowns from Grand Blanc, Michigan called the COPS on her 14 y/o LAZY SON because he refused to get up in the morning for school because he was tired from playing VIDEO GAMES all night and she took a tougher stance by getting 5-0 involved!!

She didn't want to hear 14 y/o Zachary's ecuses one morning when he said he was tired and sleeping in bed so she called a school resource officer to come get him.

She said "He first blamed his sister for not waking him up and then said he was tired from video games so i had it. I called the school resource officer to come pick him up. He wasn't bad, he just thought he was gonna not go to school again. I woke him up. He thought he was just going to not go and i said, nope you're learning today boy"

The cop DID show up and YELLED at the boy through the door and telling him to get changed cause he's giving him a ride to school in the BACKSEAT of his car..

Zachary said "I'm pretty lazy, can't lie. I like to sleep in"

The middle school kid said he was playing his xbox all night and said his mom's tough love tactic wasn't surprising since she promised to do this in the past. He said this was like the 100TH time he's done this

Zachary said Officer DAN was the one who came and Crystal says she's a single mom of 2 who works 3 jobs and has no regrets in what she did and as for a christmas gift? she plans to give him a loud, old fashioned ALARM CLOCK.

Do you think Crystal wasted resources for calling 5-0 over this?

Crystal and Zachary -

My mother would just scream like a banshee and threaten to stab me if I didnt want to get up. Its why I now have a sixth sense where I wake up exactly seconds before my alarm is about to go off.

Not if his job is to protect the school. And besides, Officers dont solve crimes, Detectives do. Officers just take the report and make an arrest if the suspect is around.

Resource officers are often older cops. It's one of the easier jobs you need rank to get.

Resource Officers are real cops. Remember the Resource Officer who was fired for not running into a school alone and attempting to stop a school shooter? Theyre cops in every sense of the word, and are expected to put their lives on the line if need be to make sure the school is safe.

Truancy is a criminal offence over here for parents if the child concerned is registered at school. The parent will probably be fined if the kids is caught. However this is not a power of arrest and it is not a power to detain, and does not make truancy a criminal offence.

Teens get court dates here for truancy. Since theyre under age, it probably goes to the parent. But, apparently, I guess it gets thrown out or something either after you turn 18 or graduate. Though, if you are over 18, and were skipping with friends under 18, you go to court for helping friends skip or something. They had a more legal sounding name. But, because of that, I see it as a crime...

Luckily, my friend who had to go to court because she was already 18 only got some community service. I helped out a couple of times. It was helping the kitchen at a college. Afterwards, I could take a bunch of food and stuff...

Also over here we don't have "cops" in schools. I'd imagine the more strict protocols in the states is due to higher risks though with guns and whatever. Still I can see your point. It just seems weird to me to think of it as a crime.

LOL!

Teens like to test the water. As a parent, there are many thing I would have tried differently than this mom. For starters, I would have taken his games.

However, some teens will fight even when you take stuff, punish them, and even when a cop shows up AT the door. Kids these days are crazy. Remember you are dealing with a generation that eats Washing Machine powder as a challenge. A single mom will have her hard moments. A 14 year old son could be hard to control. Maybe she did waste the time, but I think overall, if the kid knows all the mom has to do is make a call and someone he can not fight will gladly be there to assist her. There will be less fighting between him and her. She has the upper hand. Sometimes, as a parent, leverage is really hard to get. I know everyone is like "you should not need leverage, the kid should have respect." You are right, I also should not have to lock my doors because criminals should not steal. Leave your doors unlocked and see how that works for you...

It is sad, but at least this mom has someone to help her. Single parenting is not fun.

It is case by case. If the kid is showing resistance to going to school. The child "could" be locked up in a detention center(child jail) with the criminal offense of truancy. However, if it comes to light the parent is not providing adequate means for the child to get to and from school, then, yes, the parent can be charged as well or instead of the child, but the parent is not charged with truancy, but probably some type of "negligent" parent charge.
