My physical game collection is worth over 20k USD, maybe over 25k. If all my games were digital the only value I'd have is the systems. That's a LOT of money loss if digital.. that's a huge factor.

Next would be making money ( yes 90% or more of the time modern games lose value ) but all my retro stuff went way up over the years. Lots of modern CE games went up though like Breath of the wild Master Edition for example.

Physical you can trade. To stores or friends.

Lending is better for physical. So long as you lend to a good friend. Being an adult I don't have issues lending to other adults.

I'm sure there is more reasons but the $ value reasons are enough of a reason.

Oh add storage, Physical is usually better in this regard.

Also add that with physical it's always mine to use, with digital the servers to re download will go down one day and you lost the game.

Thought of more reasons, you can buy physical used so cheaper. Also sales can be better on physical. Most cases cheaper physical over digital.

Damn, sounds extensive. I've never put a dollar figure on my collection though.

I feel like we have this discussion regularly and the digital turds just don't get it. They're paying more to get less all because they're crying about 'clutter' or they're too friggin lazy to get up and switch a disc.

I've always said physical gives us control over when and where we play. Digital gives the companies too much power. It's mostly a wash when it comes to storage. You're either buying discs or multiple HDD's/flash cards. Personally I'd rather look at colorful game cases than a few external drives. DL'ing wastes a lot of time. Then there's the rest of your points all of which are valid.

Perhaps the biggest crisis is reliance on ISP's. They're greedy scumbags no doubt. Do we want to risk our entire library on keeping a connection that may not remain reliable, may not stay fast enough, or remain sensibly priced? F that mess. I could live without playing online. Losing my games because I can't sign in or something, well someone besides me would have a bad day.

It does have some positives I guess, like space. But if you can't afford a large place to live I'm guessing you can't afford to have a physical video game collection anyways. And lazy reasons like not having to go to the store, wait for shipping and such.

Don't forget the PSP Go and Ouya. 3 unsuccessful attempts at digital only by different companies. We clearly don't want that.

To be fair the market is big enough for both. Digital does let us have smaller games that wouldn't be worth putting on disc. As long as it's under $10 I'll buy some digital content. But overall I don't see myself letting go of physical. They can switch to flash cards and drop optical drives if it's more efficient, I'm ok with that. Digital only, I'd get off the train and enjoy replaying my collection.

This is something you have control over. You can't control loss of digital. Internet goes down, your account or servers gets hacked, it's all gone just the same. The companies certainly aren't going to help. They'll blame your password and deny responsibility.

You can't share with Switch, to my knowledge.

Most of my Steam library only cost me $5-10, typically for games that would have been $20-$30 at full price (even without counting humble bundle stuff, which offers even better deals). Sales like that certainly exist for physical games, but they take a lot more shopping around and effort than just checking Steam/GOG/Humble whenever they've got a big sale on. I'm not going to end up with that kind of savings by reselling games unless I manage to turn a profit, and really, I'm not that interested in trying to turn a profit by selling my collection.

But steam is a whole different animal. And they still sell multiplat at full price for a little while themselves. But they also know that digital content should be sold pretty cheap. But steam is still different from console digital stores...

It is indeed, given that it's the primary platform for PC gaming. Console digital stores are in addition to their retail sales, rather than replacing them entirely, and in many cases you don't save much of anything going with digital on those stores (especially Nintendo's). When I buy digital games for their systems, it's generally either because they aren't available otherwise (e.g. indie games, VC) or because it's something I expect to impulsively boot up some time and therefore want to guarantee will be with the system even if I don't deliberately bring it along (e.g. Smash or Animal Crossing). In retrospect, MHGU doesn't really fit that mold, given how past MH games have gone for me, so that's a bit inconsistent, but meh.

Steps dont equate to time, as you can tell. Sure, more steps, but still could be quicker. It all depends on your setup. For me, my system docked is right next to me. I like to go from docked to portable quickly, as well... And my games always go in a spefcific spot on the case. Which carries all my games. Its fast enough for me. And can definitely be faster as right now, you cant really set up how you home screen looks. I think. I havent found a way to move them around. Havent looked either, though, so...

I can toss my switch in my pocket, too. But dont unless certain circumstances. Depending on pocket size, it usually fits well. But can mess up the joycon sticks. So, I usually just bring the case. With extra joycons....

I said for me(basically meaning like personal, or my personal opinion), I wish it would go away. But am ok with it since it works well for others. Thats the message I was trying to convey. I dont care about it as much because it works well for others. Thats pretty terrible of you for trying to make me feel bad...

Switch in the pocket? the thing is about 2-3x the size of a normal modern phone even without the joycons attached. Must have some large pockets there...

Yep. I like bog pockets. I use to always carry a lot of stuff. But they fit in most of my pockets. Especially work pants. For both jobs.

I can only use larger jacket pockets for it. Pants pockets aren't big enough.

Why is your signature just you whining about being right? Sounds like you do this a lot, but I said that before, so I am sorry for being redundant, but you pointed it out.
