A few days ago, I was so bored at work that I just didn't want to be there. I kept looking at the clock every couple of minutes. I wanted to quit my job by the time I got home.

That carried over to the next day. I did not want to go to work. I felt very unhappy (plus my schedule kinda sucks). I thought to myself that if they fired me, I wouldn't care and they'd be doing me a favor. But after about 30 minutes, I kinda settled in and slowly felt much better.

My manager did make me a little mad, but at the end of the day, he really is trying to help me. In fact, he actually believed in me when I didn't myself. I actually wanted to quit my job because I simply didn't think I could do what I was asked and now I'm doing pretty well (retail job).

With that said, is all of this what anxiety feels like? I'm asking because I'm not really sure what anxiety feels like. I mean, quickly looking at the dictionary, it seems like it is. This isn't the first time I've experienced this. I usually feel this way with every new job and it's something I want to change about myself. I felt like quitting my job a few days ago because I couldn't stand it and yesterday I felt fine.

I don't know what I can do to not feel this way. I should mention that I was given medication for social anxiety. I don't know if it's been helping because it's new to me. The 2 times I've taken them I felt fine at work (for the most part; I did get a bit angry at my manager but he's a good guy).

The best description of anxiety I've heard is that it's like there's video game boss music always playing in your head but the boss never appears.

What you had was just a bad day imo

That's not anxiety, you just don't like the job(s) you're doing.

Anxiety is feeling insecure, worrying about stuff and not feeling good with yourself because you feel so insecure/uncomfortable.

You should talk to your doctor about all this.

Hard to tell in text. If you're wanting to quickly leave a situation, feel panic, have heart palpations, have a unexplained head pressure constantly, shake, feel off balance, get tingly feelings and blurred vision to name a few things at any given time with no break from it than yeah that's anxiety. If you're just unhappy and miserable at work then probably not. Whatever the case perhaps a job you enjoy doing will help.

I can't comment on medication that much as I've only tried Amitriptyline and that didn't help at all. I actually felt no different and noticed no changes in anything no matter the dosage. In the end my doc gave up with that as even at 30mg it didn't even show any signs at all of working.

Also you can seemingly feel no threat yet still experience symptoms. I'm not worried or on edge about anything. I'm actually quite calm yet still get the constant head pressure the most. It feels like my head is in a vise. I suppose chronic tension headache is the best way to describe it.

Oh okay. I guess it wasn't anxiety then. I didn't experience any panic, shakiness, blurred vision, etc.
