After you create your own special snowflake, it gets put on one of "Santa's Post Cards" that you can choose from, none of which offer the greeting of Merry Christmas. The postcards the Google Santa offers say, 'Let it Snow', 'Season's greetings', 'Happy Holidays' and 'Happy New Year'.

Isn't that a bit odd?

it's a little weird. i see that they've chosen decidedly non-religious greetings and christianity wasn't singled out in that regard. I understand that. However, it's santa claus. I'm having a hard time separating santa and christmas. Is christmas now considered only the religious aspects of the holiday? and if you're not christian sitting at the tree opening presidents is just a happy holiday?

It's obvious something is going on. I don't think Google has ever flat out said "Merry Christmas", even on Christmas Day. They flat out say other Holidays, though, I know that for sure.

It's a Santa post card. It's fine if they mention Happy Holiday or whatever, but isn't Santa known for saying Merry Christmas? Isn't that something blatantly obvious? It wasn't included on purpose.

It's the omission of Easter that gets me. They celebrate every event or person of interest they can find -- including one woman who supported the attacks on 9/11 -- but they won't do anything when Easter rolls around.

Ggle

That took all of ten seconds and they flat refuse to do it.

I kind of agree with you, a lot of people associate Christmas with Santa Claus. Hell in England even atheists will say Merry Christmas because thats the holiday that is being celebrated. With that said Santa Claus is also pretty damn secular and coporate as well that him saying happy holidays isnt out of the norm as well.

They did celebrate easter before, their policy is that they always want to bring awareness to more obscure holidays or figures.

No, it wouldn't throw me for a complete loop if Santa said Happy Holidays... but Seasons Greetings and Happy Holidays are only mentioned. A long with Let it Snow and Happy New Year.

No Christmas, though. Seems very deliberate and very strange why they wouldn't include that. It is pretty much the staple of Santa. "Ho Ho Ho... Merrryyy Christmassss!!"

So it's interesting to wonder about.

I'm not alt right. I'm not even really to the right.

But when you go around the room shaking everybody's hand, and you leave exactly one person out, you've snubbed them. It's not an oversight. It's not that person's paranoia or misunderstanding. It's direct intent on the person who snubbed them.

Google even made a statement on the Easter omission which was basically, "Well, we did a bumper 18 years ago." That's deliberate.

Are you really trying to claim it's not odd for Santa to not be associated with the phrase, "Merry Christmas"?

You can't be serious.

So are you suggesting the people who created this little post card game just forgot to say Merry Christmas as an option to choose? Like Santa is something so easily disassociated with Merry Christmas?

Or will you admit they intentionally left out the phrase, but it doesn't matter?

What's your stance?

The only people who are "ass devasted" is Google, who apparently go out of their way to not associate Santa with the phrase, "Merry Christmas". And the people ITT who act like it's normal or something easily overlooked.

You can at least admit they don't want to say Merry Christmas, for whatever leftist liberal rationalization you come up with.

I'm not even Christian, but their behavior is too silly not to point out.

No, I'm more conservative than I am liberal. But I am a Trump supporter.

I don't consider myself Christian, though. I don't believe in any higher power as described by religious texts and practices available to the human population as a whole. I'm probably best described as an Agnostic leaning Atheist.

I mean, the whole whining over "Merry Christmas" vs "Happy Holidays" in general is a bit silly, but you'd think that if they're worried about "Christmas" offending people, they'd also ditch Santa - a character exclusively associated with Christmas.

It seems a bit weird to ditch one but not the other, so I suspect this wasn't an intentional decision but just that the chosen designs happened to not have that phrase. When there's only a handful of designs, that's not overly unlikely.

It's pretty unlikely and pretty telling. Imagine having all these little games, but nothing referencing Christmas or "Merry Christmas". And then to go as far as creating your own Santa postcard, but the only options you have to choose have nothing to do with Christmas.

There's no simple oversight about this. It has to be intentional.

No. No one cares.

Seriously, why are people mad about this whole thing? Out of spite? You don't lose anything by including more people.

Not to mention the fact that Christmas is full of a ridiculous amount of things borrowed from other beliefs, and that 90% of what we think is 'traditional' is pretty damn modern.

Someone or some entity obviously cared enough to not even mention the phrase Merry Christmas while including characters associated with Christmas.

If you'll read previous posts, it's not even about including people. The five star "inclusive" phrases were already included----Seasons Greetings, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year and Let it snow. Does including Merry Christmas as well exclude anyone to you? Is it that hard to say? Is it that offensive to include?

Why was it not included when Santa represents Christmas? Why would, in this instance, including "Merry Christmas" exclude people or not include people given the previous "holiday" wishes?

Because they are all generic, far reaching statements. If you include Merry Christmas, you have to include the version for literally every holiday. Happy Holidays literally covers all of them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the stories I was read as a child regarding Santa was directly correlated with Christmas. He said Ho Ho, Merry Christmas. I don't remember him saying Ho Ho Happy Kwanza or whatever.
