SFF between Mario and Samus will always favour Mario. Same with Link/Mario

Tifa/Seph is more about Tifa being on the good guy side and Seph being on the Bad. That and the fact that Seph has been compeltely and utterly irrelevant in Gaming since Kingdom Hearts 2.

Yes because Zelda is more popular. Mario is more popular than MEtroid

FFVII is the same game.

Seph is a bad guy but one bad guy that had more of a following and respect during 7's peak popularity.

Now Tifa is stronger simply because She looks attractive from a Video games perspective is from the same gme and those same people don't care about Seph enough.

Cloud at least has bene in Smash.

And we havent' really seen POst Smash Cloud yet.

It's an embarrassment even if he gets up to 45%. Sonic is a Noble Nine character who is currently getting wrecked by a non-rallied outsider. This is an easy win for him 5 years ago.

If mario can only get 53-55% on Samus then somehow the SFF has been weakened between the two. Which still baffles me as Odyssey should have done wonders for Mario. Samus still hasn't had a AAA Game since Prime 3.

Mario does better with the 2nd 5 minutes than the 1st. Well, that's probably game.

Extrapolating trends through Tifa and Sephiroth suggest Samus should end a little higher than where she is now, but by less than 1%.

Side note: seeing the Nintendo hierarchy in action once again just continues to show how weird it is that it exists. No other fanbase has inter-fanbase weirdness to the point that Nintendo does. Samus is projected to comfortably beat Mario, but she doesn't because Mario is above Metroid. No other fanbase does this, at least not to the extent Nintendo does.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Mario vs. Zelda now, because Mario should be above her in the heiarchy, but this beastly Zelda could have easily climbed the ladder of said heiarchy herself.

I think Mario is lower on the hierarchy now. It's a theory I've held for a while, but 10+ years ago, he was pretty much the sole face of the company (Pikachu being perhaps the lone exception). Mario was the only character they used when promoting things on a Nintendo-wide scale.

That isn't the case anymore. Nintendo has branched out and is using many of their formerly overlooked characters in their marketing. This was evident with projects like the "Year of Luigi" and with Mario's significantly lessened role in marketing Ultimate. He was hardly prominent in any of those trailers.

Yeah huge difference. And Critical ratings as well. Other M Had to be developed by a 3rd party. Lower Budget with a 3rd party Dev Team. Prime 3 was Retros most expensive game to date.

But I'm combining Production Costs and Critical Reception. Prime 3 got AAA Reviews. Other M didn;t.

Mario only got around 54% against Samus in 2006-8, albeit with Link in the same poll. I do remember getting lots of joy out of the fact that after a bunch of people on this board picked Mario to beat Crono even in the face of Triple Nintendo SFF, Samus ended up getting about a bazillion more cuts on Mario than Mario got on Crono that day.
