Heart breaking photos of General Motors employees wiping away tears after learning of the company axing more than 14,000 people in North America and WITHOUT WARNING as it hits just before the holidays!!

In a massive restructuring, the auto giant announced Monday that it will eliminate 15% of its workforce to save 6 billion and adapt to the changing market conditions

A GM worker said "You're going right into Christmas. You're looking for celebration and that's not there right now". Another said through tears "I'm just kind of hurting right now"

A worker said several people were bawling their eyes out as they've worked there for DECADES as he's never seen anything like it.

They are shuttering 7 plants worldwide where CEO Mary Barra said customer preferences to popular trucks and SUVs and increasing electric models are reason for the move

The job cuts from GM's current 180,000 strong workforce stings the most in politically crucial areas such a Ohio and Michigan, a region Trump promised to revive.

It's also hitting a plant in Ontario where workers staged a wildcat strike to protest where Unifor union president Jerry Dias said he will vigorously fight to maintain the good paying auto jobs after already helping Prime Minister Justin Trudeau salvage the NAFTA agreement that would save the auto industry in Canada and said they will not let GM take jobs away from Canada and into Mexico again.

25% will be in executive levels as plants will close by the end of 2019 but workers will gradually be laid off along the way..some into the NEW YEAR

A woman says she worries for all the people who put in so many years with the company and don't know what's going to happen tomorrow as they demand answers from the company

Trump expressed dismay and only threatened he will take away any subsidies that the White House has given to GM who said "You know this countyr has done a lot for General Motors. You better get back in ther soon. They better put something else in"

Barra also met with economic advisor Larry Kudlow but nothing came from it.

The company said its earnings saw it costs jump 400 million due to the trump tariffs on steel aluminum but said their latest decision isn't because of it.

Recently elected Sherrod Brown, an Ohio Demcorat blasted GM's move as "corporate greed at its worst" and took a swipe at the 2017 tax cut favoured by Trump which was touted as a jobs winner as they failed to invest it into american jobs.

There was however winners in this..WALL STREET who cheered at the decision as GM shares sky rocketed almost 5% as investors will now get a bigger piece of the pie and Dow Jones rose 100+ points at the end of the day after falling 100 points at the open

Do you think Trump will take away the Subsidies given to GM?

Wait, why does GM have subsidies... at all? They're a non-essential industry

Upper-class socialism.

Wouldn't you give yourself subsidies?

They're a huge part of US economy, its existence is essential to US financial stability.

An economy only works if it's allowed to fail. I mean, if the foundation is damaged you don't just keep gluing on butresses

I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this who will count the votes, and how.

Yeah, no. Economics is a complex thing, if subsidies could never be useful, then a business loan must never get businesses off the ground. As it happens, a bit of cash injection allows necessary moves to be made to make sales more viable.

Economies that prop up a country can't be allowed to fail unless you want to surrender GDP leadership.

A few cash injections are important, that's what loans are - not government subsidies. This is the guv saying that your taxes pay to build a failing product, and not a more profitable product.

If GM fails, the economy takes a huge hit. There is no company the government can fund that can make enough profit to offset the loss of GM. This is what "too big to fail" means.
