Yeah, no. Economics is a complex thing, if subsidies could never be useful, then a business loan must never get businesses off the ground. As it happens, a bit of cash injection allows necessary moves to be made to make sales more viable.

Economies that prop up a country can't be allowed to fail unless you want to surrender GDP leadership.


A few cash injections are important, that's what loans are - not government subsidies. This is the guv saying that your taxes pay to build a failing product, and not a more profitable product.

If GM fails, the economy takes a huge hit. There is no company the government can fund that can make enough profit to offset the loss of GM. This is what "too big to fail" means.
