It's just a bunch of cutscenes with minute long battles sprinkled in between. The only good world I've played so far is The Underworld, already up to Pirates. At least it's got Jack Sparrow.

Other than that slow ass LONG ass intro with those other people, the rest of the game is pretty great. I think it starts with the steamboat willy level, that ones sweet.

But if youve played the other games before, this one has completely different mechanics from the others, and sometimes that causes the whole game to feel different from the first

Seriously, Kingdom Hearts 1 was charming and fun; Kingdom Hearts 2 took itself way too seriously. Or, to put it another way, KH1 was a Disney-themed game with some Square characters sprinkled in; KH2 was a Square game with some Disney stuff sprinkled in.

When you start fighting organization members would be where it starts getting good i think. If you don't like the combat then...you're not going to care for it. That's pretty much the game's strongest point. Especially its post-game fights. They're pretty sick.

That's perfectly valid. Personally I enjoyed KH 1 more for a more coherent plot and a satisfying conclusion.
KH 2 is indeed my second favourite though.

When you put KH 1 in.

The actual fighting (when you get to) is fun and I enjoy it. I just miss the structure from 1 and CoM where you go and fight stuff for a good 15-25 minutes, then get a small cutscene that develops the plot, not just "here's Pete again."

My whole issue is the pacing and how 50% of the fights have some gimmick to them. I think once there's more boss fights going on, I'll be happier with it.

I found KH1 magical and have replayed it many times.

Was only ever able to finish Kh2 once, and only tried again one other time. I plan on trying one more time before 3 comes out.

Part of it was that KH1 already existed and I'd played it over and over before KH2 came out. Part of it was the worlds didn't seem as magical, some of the mini games etc were annoying etc.

In the end I happily include KH1 in my top 10 games of all time, while KH2 doesn't even rank in the top 50.

Eh for me id say its when you get cure but if a streak of bosses is what youre needing youve a ways to go to see that in the story and even then theres still cutscenes. But if youre playing Final Mix there are also 15 or so optional super bosses that you can do pretty much back to back if it suits you and youd probably like the dungeon that leads to most of those.

One of my top 5 favorite games though so hope you get to enjoying it eventually. If 3 is even half as good ill be happy.

So did you finally get through it? KH1 had a similar issue with Desitny Islands iirc.

As for KH3? From what I hear they finally learned from KH1/KH2 so the intro should be really short.

Destiny Islands was maybe 30 minutes top. Roxas's thing was like around 2 hours when I went through it, maybe even more.

But no, I haven't played II since posted all that yesterday. Going through Persona 3 since I'm nearly finished with it, then I'll beat KHII.

Also, it Atlantica a required world in this game?

Destiny Islanda could still be a little bad lol. Not as bad as KH2, but still bad imo.

I think you can skip Atlantica in KH2? But KH2 Atlantica is completely different from KH1. It's a rhythm mini game in KH2.

Is Roxas really all that long if you skip the side content?
