I will say this: the only concrete metric in wrestling is ratings and attendance. And right now, WWE attendance is trending down at all shows aside from the absolute marquee events, and ratings are trending downwards as well.

205 matches died on raw. i've no idea how you could think that's a good idea. maybe as a viewer who desperately wants one good 15 minute match a week on raw, but otherwise it's just guaranteed murder of the cruiserweights unless they start presenting them differently.

They died on Raw because they were poorly booked or so short that it was impossible to care about.

There were maybe one or two cruiserweight matches ever on Raw that were on par with the stuff that was on 205 Live every week. I will never understand why they didn't have the blow off matches for feuds early on in 205 Live on Raw. If you gave them those killer feud-ending matches on Raw, people would care much more.

Everything they did with the cruiserweights on Raw was completely harmful to getting them over. Obviously if they do what they were doing before it would suck, but if they put forth an effort to actually put on entertaining stuff, it would be better. What do they seriously have to lose at this point when you have freaking No Way Jose vs Jinder Mahal in its place or another heat segment where we are expected to hate a heel over and over and over?

Booking cruiserweights on Raw is so simple that it's hard to imagine even WWE, who sucks at everything, can't get it right.

Just give them some basic amount of storyline and it's fine. Even if it's as simple as "rar my name is ____ and I want to beat you up ____" that would be sufficient. Don't just throw 3 cruisers against 3 cruisers every show. Book 1v1s first, only leading to a 3v3 if you've established a reason to. Like the whole problem with the cruiserweight division is you don't know who any of them are if you don't watch 205. I can't tell you a single thing that distinguishes Tony Nese from Mustafa Ali aside from Nese having more muscles.

I think theres a misconception that thats how WCW did it, just random pointless flippy multimen matches. They DID do those, but only after characters got established.

I recently finished watching every Nitro. And a lot of Thunder.

The between-Bischoff and Russo period of 1999 is the worst WCW ever.

It is incredibly boring and includes burials of pretty much everyone Bischoff was high on.

The only other period close to as bad is late-2000 WCW, which is just as boring, except replace most of the talented wrestlers with guys like Shawn Stasiak.

The only reason I think late-2000 WCW is better is that Nitro is only 2 hours instead of 3.

When you have Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan in your main events, guys like Calisto and Cedric just arent gonna stand out as being different.

Maybe if you let your 205 guys actually work actual lucha libre style matches or British catch as catch can matches that would work some.

Overall though I scoff at this idea that Raw is close enough to being non broken that 205 Live segments could save it.

They still would have booked Ziggler/Rollins part 900 because they don't know what the problem actually is.

Becky/Ronda was getting over because of how fresh it was.
