I highly doubt it.

TBQH I feel like the current generation of kids won't even like video games the way we do once they're adults. Fortnite is a flash in the pan because it's F2P.

It just wouldn't be Nintendo and Sega leading the charge in the US in the early 90s.

Hell even assuming you meant "Nintendo and Sega" gaming would still be around, just different pronouns and hardware.

Maybe PC Gaming would be a lot bigger.

but games would never have "Gone away" the writing was so crazily on the wall.

This is untrue. The NES revitalized console gaming in North America, everywhere else was fine.

The gaming crash wasn't a worldwide phenomenon.

I was going to suggest that Fortnite has had a rather significant immediate cultural impact.

Then I remembered Minecraft and how there were thousands and thousands of people attending the Minecraft convention every year, and now that's kind of fizzled out.

So I imagine Fortnite might go the same route. But time will tell.

Regardless. Mario has like almost 30 years' head start so ...
