Tifa/X is definitely an all-time classic contest match. One metric you can use for match excitement is how late in the match did people call it incorrectly? People were calling this in favor of MMX 3 hours before Tifa won. Compare an even more exciting match, Mega/Zard 2013 where people said "Yep, Zard's got this" twenty minutes before he lost.

It BLATANTLY helped carry her over the line. X was right about to hit that 100 vote lead again when someone posted it at about 5pm yesterday. That's when Tifa started making her final comeback and push to win the match.

Anyway, here's the timeline.

Match begins: 50/50
Early night vote: X begins building his lead with the power hour. Lead extends to almost 400 votes (I called the match over here right before going to bed around 1am).
Late night vote: Tifa starts cutting, largely thanks to Europe, and eventually starts building a lead of her own.
Around noon: (When I woke up), X has started cutting. Tifa is only ahead by like 100, X is slowly cutting into that.
1PM: I made the rally thread for Tifa on r/FinalFantasy. It doesn't gain a ton of traction right away, but Tifa went from being cut hard to stalling.
2PM-3PM: X has his best hour since the early night vote, demolishes what was left of Tifa's lead and builds one of his own.
3PM-5PM: Tifa stalls/makes small cuts but it looks like with the dwindling European pool, X will just be able to glide to victory.
5PM: Someone FINALLY posts to the r/hentai site and it takes off. Tifa begins her final push, making a few bigger cuts. Around the same time, someone links my r/FinalFantasy rally thread on the FinalFantasy Record Keeper subreddit
6PM: We had TWO exact ties around here, but Tifa manages to snag the lead and pushes to victory.
7PM: Black Turtle meltdowns

1. I think that when I made the topic 'announcing' the 2013 asterisks, I explained that Tifa was almost certainly an outlier but that I couldn't arbitrarily adjust her down because she was so consistent in dominating. If someone used the 2013 xstats to predict that win...uh...well, I'm glad I helped lead you to the right answer through the (somewhat) wrong argument!

2. It was on...a lot of hentai subreddits.

3. Mega Man X definitely rallied way before Tifa. It's part of the reason why he couldn't overcome Tifa's climactic surge at the end - his rally juice had already been used up. Based on the registered/anonymous vote splits between Tifa and X in previous rounds, it's likely that the rallies basically cancelled each other out.

4. This is a guess, but I imagine that rallies from porn subreddits have a very low Upvote/View -> GameFAQs vote ratio. They're there for the accompanying picture, not a contest. They definitely helped though and I doubt she wins without them (just as she doesn't win without the non-porn rallies).

5. NGamer's 'safe futanari search' plan had me rolling.

6. Black Turtle's meltdown was one of the best parts of the match. I don't think anyone takes BT seriously though so I doubt anyone was considering him the face of MMX. He's Black Turtle.

7. It's a Top 10 match for me, a big reason being is that I followed it extremely closely. Mild insomnia means I was able to follow her night vote comeback, which was nuts considering this contest's overall trends.

8. As a rebuttal to the "no one shittalks MMX" thing, this is a screenshot of me rallying a friend, and we have NEVER talked about MMX before yesterday:

The comeback literally started the UPDATE after I went to sleep on Weds night. I had given up all hope on her, so the way she came back is even more impressive to me.

10. Phoenix Wright performed identically to the 2013 x-stats! They're not right about everything but they pegged him vs. Ike to a tee.

11. Tifa actually does overperform pretty much every time she faces a female voter. It's part of the reason why she was overrated in the 2013 stats. She faced only female characters that year (except Red).

13. I doubted KH3 hype early on. Then others convinced me it would exist. Should have trusted my gut on that one. It's very true that people just don't care at this point.
