I've been watching God Friended Me and I was just thinking that there is not a single show I can remember where I'm just feeling at peace and happy each time I'm done watching it. Like, they make a heartbreaking situation in each episode, they make you think it's going to end poorly, and every single time it ends up just good and happy and I just feel glad to have gone on this hour long journey.

Anyone else have a show like this?

Batman: Brave and the Bold. It's a cartoon that really captures the inherent silliness of comics perfectly I feel. Other Batman shows might be better but this one is the most fun.

My girlfriend literally started watching this yesterday. Lol

It's hilarious to me when you compare it to the American cooking shows where people compete there's drama, ego, tense music, and then you watch this and it's just a bunch of friendly bakers to the tune of peaceful music.

Bake Off is wildly successful for exactly this reason

Other reality shows tend to ooze cynicism and back-biting and obviously staged dramas. Bake Off is like the antithesis to that. I don't stay caught up with it by any means but definitely watch with my family if I'm home.

Mine is probably Friends, since it's so easy, or maybe Community (sadly not on Netflix) or the IT Crowd. Or Pointless, but I have to be in the UK for that.

Boston Legal is this way for me. At the end of every episode, every legal hurdle and difficult decision comes back to the power of true friendship and enduring camaraderie, enjoying the simple things in life while you can. It's a nice, warm feeling.

So then what's the point when you know how the sad story will be miraculously fixed by then end? Sounds kinda lame

Because they actually do a super compelling job making it seem like hope is lost for a resolution. And it's set up like there is going to be a time where they can't fix it in the end. The story it takes to get is very difficult to predict as well. It's really a brilliant show in that respect.

For background, it's about a guy who has an atheist podcast who gets a random Facebook request from someone called God. This God account then gives him all kinds of friend suggestions for people who have some kind of issue and need saving in one way or another. So the side plots typically follow trying to figure out who is behind it while they keep trying to do good to help people. It tackles a lot of really interesting social issues in some episodes, whereas others just deal with complicated relationship matters.

I absolutely recommend the show. My girlfriend has cried during every episode. I thought she would make it through the last one, but she still cried at the end.

I unwind with Neighbours after work due to the fact it's never really ever taken itself seriously despite being a damn soap opera. Even in highly dramatic moments.

This. Brave and the Bold has so much comic history that it's a treat to comic book fans and full of surprises for people who aren't as dedicated to the medium. There's a lot of love that goes into that show.

The kinds of shows that do that the most for me are cartoons for preschoolers. Part of this is remembering when my kids were a bit younger and when I was really exhausted I'd lie down on the couch with them and we'd watch PBS Kids or Sprout or whatever, but I think it also brings back feelings of being that age myself.

My current go-to, which my youngest still watches, is Puffin Rock on Netflix.
