read about this at least a few years back, in australia, a store charged customers like 50 bucks to come inside their store and browse. If they bought something the fee was returned to them. Supposedly places like best buy are getting mad at customers who check out their tvs in store and then maybe buy them on amazon. I wouldn't say the stores are totally wrong though.

Sounds like a great way for a business to lose all its customers.

Sounds pretty stupid to charge that since Best Buy will price match with Amazon anyway.

I've skipped checking out sales that charged an entrance fee. Not sure if I've seen a place with a looking fee that was refunded on purchase.

Based on what?

You open up a bricks and mortar store selling whatever you want but charge a fee to enter the store and see what happens in regards to the law.

Nothing would happen. However, if you somehow think that there's a law, feel free to cite it. I'm not even sure why you would think there'd be a law regarding it, considering all of the businesses out there which charge admission.

Seems counter productive. Some stores can't compare with online prices and charging a fee to browse when it costs nothing to do so online(save for you're internet bill if at home) is just going to push more and more customers away from your store when they are already fleeing.

The theory is that it punishes people who weren't going to buy from you anyway and who solely use offline to browse for online purchases, which does kinda have a point. It doesn't work as nicely in practice because customers aren't necessarily going to buy something every visit and you could turn off other well-intentioned buyers rather than just the ass clowns who are using your store front to preview what Amazon has for sale.

I'm well aware what the theory is and it's counter productive as I said. These stores are not going to last long.
