How do you people deal with that?

There are times I want to game and just be by my girlfriend, but she's so uninterested. I'm sure if I wasn't so much into retro gaming it would be more entertaining, but I am not much into modern games.
Because of this, she can even find them annoying cause I'll be replaying old arcade stuff over and over for records or the music is repetative.

When she's busy, it's all great cause she doesn't even notice unless I cheer or something.
Anybody have work arounds to this?

Makes me enjoy when she's got homework or a project and all I wanna do is game. Then the times she's not busy, it just feels selfish to want to game cause she's not into it.

Mind you, I've pulled out so many types of games for us to play, but she dislikes learning controls.

I usually have the problem of SO not being into games. The most I did was just play mostly at home. But I didnt live with them, so it wasnt much of an issue. My SO now likes to watch me play them. But I do play modern games which probably keeps his interest. You could compromise by finding at least one modern game to play around her. But I dont either of you well enough to give advice that will definitely work...

My wife isn't into games. I play when she's not home or when she's downstairs watching TV.

Have you considered not treating your girlfriend like a prop to decorate your environment?

It's one or the other, you either game alone or you engage with her, it's not fair on her to subject her to your shitty taste with nothing in it for her.

I got lucky. Both me and my wife are introverts so we both need alone time. After the boy is asleep we both get time to ourselves. I vid out, she reads and cross stiches. Life is good.

She's her own person, man. If she doesn't like XYZ, there's no need to try and get her to like XYZ. Couples do not need to have all the same views, likes, dislikes, etc;

My husband is into sports, I am not. I am into gaming and he is not. We have different interests. It doesn't bother us.

At a matter of fact, sometimes this is a good thing for when each of you want some time to do your own thing for a while

It's not selfish of you to use your leisure time doing something you enjoy that she doesn't care about. That's not to say you don't need to balance your personal leisure time with spending time with her, but you don't have to feel bad about saying that you want some time to game without her. If the sounds are a problem, you could use headphones, but that's all the compromise that I think is needed here.

Simple, you have hobbies you are into together, and you have hobbies you are into separately. Video games being the one you like and she doesn't. As long as she doesn't try to get you to stop gaming it isn't a big deal at all.

My girlfriend doesn't really like videogames as much as I do.
I convinced her to try out Super Mario Bros 1 and Lost Levels(both NES versions on my 3DS).

They both were really hard for her but she eventually got through them(using save states).
I don't think she hated playing them because she spent over 40 hours playing both games and was really determined to beat them.

I don't want to force my hobby on her but sometimes I kinda wish she were more into videogames because I want someone to play my games with : /

Weirdly enough, its hard to find gay guys that like video games. I thought it might have been an age thing, but that doesnt seem to be the issue...

My uncle doesn't play them a lot (he is actually more into D&D then video games), but he certainly is into them. Any time he visits from San Francisco the first thing he wants to do is see what games I am playing at the time.

I will admit he is certainly in the minority compared to most gay people I have met.

Same. I also like TTRPGs. I just know that out of all the people Ive dated or hook-up with, they really werent into video games. I think one guy I hooked-up somewhat regularly was... Even back home, my gay friends werent much into them, either...
