... but Hellboy is actually really good.

Either way, though, they are all glossy 'comic book' movies with weak acting, but at least Underworld had a novel premise. Hellboy actually had some good acting, a great plot, and an awesome aesthetic.

See, while Underworld had some great action sequences that kept me entertained, what I really liked was the backstory/history that unfolded as it progressed.

On to Blade 2

For Bram Stoker's birthday? I considered doing the same thing, but I ended up passing.

I do this every year. I watch a bunch of horror movies in October, then I say I'm going to watch whatever Dracula movie I missed on Stoker's birthday. But I never get around it it.

It's just a bad movie. It's boring and doesn't catch any of what made the book good. It was also meant to be a film franchise but it flopped critically and financially so they canned it there. There's probably just a renaissance of people acting like it's good now to act artistic or something.

I mean go ahead and watch it but you'll agree that it's bad.

Also it's Interview with THE Vampire, not A.

A movie isn't bad because you read the book and enjoyed it more.

EVERYONE that reads a book that becomes a movie feels that way and they love to feel that way. Nothing gets them harder than jumping into a conversation about a movie to say the book was better so they can feel superior.

vampires aren't love interests, they're not hot, they're not friendly. they want to eat you, 30 days of night is the best example of what a vampire is that i can think of.

read a couple books a while ago from the iron druid series, lots of unfriendly vampires in that. dresden files has them too. they're not the focus in either but they're the only examples i can come up with.

he's literally an incubus that kills women he sleeps with. just because he fights against that doesn't make it any less true. and then you've got the red and black court, essentially the vampires from 'from dusk tell dawn' or any given zombie movie.

My favourites are Only Lovers Left Alive, What We Do In The Shadows (comedy) and the vampire films of Jean Rollin that I've seen - Fascination and The Nude Vampire. Those two are erotic films but also have a lot of atmosphere and style to them, absolutely brilliant. I prefer Werner Herzog's remake of Nosferatu although the original is pretty good too. Abel Ferrara's The Addiction is a very different low key take on Vampirism with a lot to think about. Also Vampire Hunter D is cool as hell for an anime movie.

And I haven't finished it yet, real life got in the way, but Sion Sono is an awesome director and his tv show for Amazon Prime - Tokyo Vampire Hotel is pretty great.

I'm quite interested in the concept of Vampires although there's a lot I haven't seen. I did start writing a piece of interactive fiction that was my take on vampirism, that was more sex based.

Sorry couldn't keep it to just one film but I figured some atypical suggestions might be welcome. Only Lovers Left Alive is my number one favourite though.

which just makes him a sad monster from a family of actual monsters. lets keep in mind his dad was the king of rape, his sister is little better and came into power by raping that father half to death, his cousins are all psychopaths, and other white court vampires feed off of feelings of fear and despair that requires they torture the fuck out of their victims.
