What we do in the Shadows is a really unique and amazing movie, I highly recommend that.

No it wasn't, every one of you people are saying Interview with A Vampire, not Interview with the Vampire.

And it is still a bad movie.

Watched Blade 2 the other night. Really not a fan of it. It's less of a Vampire movie and more of just a straight up horror action flick, and a bad one at that.

The first movie was flat out better in numerous ways.

The problem with Bram Stoker's Dracula is that Dracula is not supposed to be the hero like at all. He is a purely evil character. Not sympathetic. I forgive it though.

I don't begrudge the film being made, but I hate that it's called Bram Stoker's Dracula as it's the antithesis of the novel. They should've stuck with some variation of the original title, Dracula: The Untold Story.

Lots of good choices in this topic so far. I'd have to do some research to remember all of the vampire movies I've seen as there are tons.

I'd have to say Bram Stoker's Dracula might be my favorite-- between Gary Oldman, the visuals, and the music, it's pretty damn great. And Winona Ryder in her prime was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

Interview with the Vampire is really good too, and I'll have to agree about Kirsten Dunst's amazing performance. Best child actress I've ever seen, by far.

For those who've put Dracula Dead & Loving It as the best comedy vampire movie, you really need to watch What We Do In the Shadows. It's hilarious.

And even though it's a TV show, I'd like to mention the BBC's version of Being Human. Features ghosts and werewolves too, but the portrayal of vampires (and those who try not to be murderers despite their urges) was really well done.

Salem's Lot (the original and the remake), easily the best vampire story ever. Its right up there with Dracula.

How's the book? It's one of the Steven King novels I didnt get around to.

Like a lot of King's books it can be a bit too wordy in some parts but it is well worth the read, it takes a good while before the vampires start showing up but once they do and the town starts to crumble it really picks up. If you have a chance you should check it out.

Watched Interview with the Vampire last night. It is a solid OK movie. It had some great parts and some mediocre parts, but it's not bad. I'd still say Dracula (1992) is tops.

Got more watching to do

If Interview was just decent to you, you might not want to make a point to watch everything vampire related there is.

Well, I mean some of the acting is terrible and the movie has strange pacing at times. Certain scenes were great, others I did not care for.

Find a cutscene/story compilation of the Legacy of Kain series.

Lol @ Anne Rice praise. How people will shit on Twilight without realizing it was Rice that really made vampires into that cringe heart throb shit that has dominated them for decades now.

I strongly recommend Salem's Lot. Some of his later books do some of the same things-- Needless Things in particular felt like a rehash, but Salem's Lot does the 'evil comes to small town and slowly destroys it' thing much better.

Well, Rice has her problems certainly, but she did do some interesting things with the history of vampires, at least until she became a born again Christian and ruined the series.

But, vampires as sex objects was a thing long before Rice or Twilight.

I think most people object to Twilight because it was a thoroughly white washed version of vampires written by a Mormon housewife that threw in all sorts of conservative messages (pro-abstinence and pro-life being the obvious ones) and then aimed directly at teenage girls.
