Voted Sub Zero, but I'd be down for a Mokap nomination rally just to see how badly he would get destroyed.

Cage is my favorite. I don't think he'd outperform the ninjas, but he could do alright.

Liu Kang isn't very popular among the hardcore MK community. I think he's more popular among the casual community.
All MK popularity polls usually have some combination of Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Johnny Cage as the top 3. With Raiden always in the Top 5, and Noob Saibot always in the top 10. From there it's really up for grabs. Suprised to see Scorpion losing to Cage, but in every popularity contest (list, tournament, ect) its always one of those three that wins...and if any ever get upset before reaching the finals its always because Noob Saibot has some crazy rally.
