I actually played like 20 minutes when it first came out, but let's pretend this is the first time even though the game won't let me change my name from the original save.

Is there anything I should know? I know a few spoilers from general internet stuff, like that you shouldn't kill anything.

just follow your heart for your first run re: what to kill or not kill, the game's short enough that you can replay to see stuff you missed the first time

I know there's a short skeleton named Sans

I know it's based on Earthbound and there's a fan theory that Sans = Ness

I know there's a lot of fourth wall breaking stuff

I know the final boss is a guy with a trident

I know Flowey has some kind of save-related powers and comes back later after the intro

I know at some point you are filled with determination

Every song is a remix of another song it always seems like. Which very well may be the case.

Undertale heavily uses leitmotifs, so you can hear the same melody of any one song in like five other songs in the game, but I think he was asking if it was based on something outside of Undertale (or maybe he wasn't).
