Well this board hasn't ever really had all that much sway in nominations till recently. These contests used to actually be popular to the point where you needed huge rallies to get in. In 2005 the likes of Metal Sonic and Metal Man would easily miss the field, no offense to Zen or HaRRicH.

not only that but in Ike's case, 2007 was essentially the first contest he was eligible for, with his game coming out after 2005's contest and 2006 being so cramped.
now Lyn not being able to make the female bracket in 2006 was pretty bad, given the trash that got in there. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

oh hey the wikia has data on board 8 nomination survey totals for some years.
http://board8.wikia.com/wiki/Board_8%27s_2007_Nominations http://board8.wikia.com/wiki/Board_8%27s_2008_Nominations Ike was in the top 10 most nominated characters in both of those. http://board8.wikia.com/wiki/Board_8%27s_2010_Nominations Ike didn't do quite as well in 2010, probably because people took it for a given that he would be getting in, but there was also a major push for Lyndis that year; she actually got more Board 8 noms than Ike but still not enough to make the bracket. People managed it in 2013, though. http://board8.wikia.com/wiki/Board_8's_2011_Nominations Ike & Black Knight were top 20 in Rivalry Rumble.
