Poll of the Day > I miss it when Overwatch was the "fun" game

I booted up the game for the first time in literally months. I noticed I completely missed the halloween event and season 12

I tried playing Mercy, my first main and favorite, for awhile. I completely dropped her after that godawful revamp that took away rez.

Idk, it just feel like it was so comfy. The characters was nice, the "story" was new, still developing and exciting.

I just don't know what it is and hating on what's popular. Like seriously, you say you like fortnite and immediately get hated on, like holy shit it's not that serious.
but I don't think OW really got that hate. I miss it...

shame that the devs ran the game into the ground. I'm legit only looking forward to the story events now. Or a story mode in general. The game just stagnated too much

It desperately needs maps and modes. What came with the game got boring quickly since there's no server browser. I really only played with Pharah for the rockets. There's no CTF, no DM, just king of the hill and push payload. Lame.

I won't say FN is the best thing I've played but it's not that bad. Obviously with 100 players you're not going to have multiple maps, however you don't often see the same areas in consecutive games. While it mostly boils down to DM they do add new rules to the modes to freshen it up.

The thing to note is OW wasn't free and the content is slow. FN was free so you take what ya get in between playing other games.

I still have never played it. im more interested in the background lore of the game but it sounds like when you play the actual game, there is no plot. so I never bothered with it

At this point SW Battlefront II is better

I don't understand the complaint that a 2.5 year old game with no subscription fee and minimal microtransactions hasn't evolved enough. Most multiplayer games don't even receive support for more than a year.

I certainly don't understand the complaint that Mercy's terrible rez was removed (though arguably it's still just as bad).

Play something else.

But I do. I played it and the content sucked. All cosmetic. The better stuff apparently didn't arrive until half the players moved to something that wasn't bad. It's clear Blizz doesn't know what they're doing.

Play something else.

In short it was a game players paid $20, $40, maybe even $60 for at launch. It focused on paid cosmetic items above all else. Meanwhile a free game such as FN can vary things up from week to week and none of it costs a dime. You could argue that Rocket League hasn't done a lot recently either but for many of us that was free as well.

Typical Activision really. And some people were quick to excuse the problems because they think Blizzard is good.

It sounds like you dropped a bunch on a game without understanding what you were purchasing.

I bought Overwatch with no expectation that it would be any different two years after purchase, because that's how 99% of $60 games work.

I dunno, I bought overwatch last month and I think it is fun and it seems like a lot of people still play it and they're still updating it plenty. Not bad for $12, you know?

loot boxes still bring in that dough.

Yeah I know lootboxes are kind of shit but I don't think Overwatch is especially predatory about them compared to most other games with them, so by extension I don't expect as many incentives to buy them.

I suspect without them Overwatch would have no post launch content (which I'd have been fine with), and in order to get more they'd have to be made worse.
