Board 8 > Characters who should stop being nominated to contests?

I see this subject being brought up every now and then so I decided to make a thread from it.

After Round 1 is over, are there any characters you think should stop appearing?

Either they represent a dead series nobody cares about anymore, or they have never won anything and are not likely to in the future, etc.

I'll try to name some:

Geno
Lloyd
Ezio
Dragonborn
Cayde-6
Draven
Quiet

Joke characters. Characters who are generic enemies. Unnamed blank slate heroes. And anyone who's only not fodder because of Smash.

Sticking with characters who have been in this contest and at least one other, because there's no intrinsic reason to think characters from only CBX will keep being nominated, and because I don't want this list to be too long:

Lightning (No need for another match to prove that even a widely hated character can blow out sufficiently awful fodder.)
Neku Sakuraba (Winless fodder from a cult game.)
Yu Narukami (We really don't need multiple foddery Persona protagonists in one bracket.)
Aya Brea (She's got her win now, and one is enough for irrelevant fodder.)
Dragonborn (Skyrim's popular, sure, but he's just too weak and not distinct enough as a character.)
John Marston (Anyone who can be SFF'd by Kratos of all characters, especially despite new game hype, just doesn't belong.)
Ryo Hazuki (He shouldn't return unless Shenmue 3 actually comes out and blows everyone away.)
Ezio Auditore da Firenze (The Assassin's Creed series may have been influential, but it's also deader than disco on GameFAQs, and character design couldn't help Ezio enough.)
Riku (In retrospect, it's not surprising that his design and archetype would age badly, but still.)
Lucina (Marth actually has some proven strength, and Roy or Robin would at least be brand-new high fodder.)
Miles Edgeworth (Five contests is more than enough for fodder of this degree. Sometimes the truth hurts.)
Geno (Super Mario RPG fan-favorite status alone clearly isn't enough to have any strength on GameFAQs.)
Draven (Self-explanatory, but I'm glad he did come back this time.)
Lloyd Irving (At least Velvet is somewhat relevant and has character design that appeals strongly to voters.)

never going to be worth anything again: Ezio, Dragonborn, John Marston, Draven

I think Spyro has a reason to be in, he did okay against Chun-Li.

This statement didn't age well.

Spyro has everything that works in a contest. He's a cartoony char from the 90s. Keep bringing him. And bring Crash with him.

Lloyd usually draws a powerhouse in round 1. Weaker characters have been put in more winnable situations. He's usually just a little below Isaac in the stats, and we've seen what he can do.

Also for what it's worth...
-In 2013 he finished ahead of Big Daddy, a character who has won matches, even with Pikachu likely SFFing him a bit.
-His performance against Ryu right now is about how he did against Fox in 2010, indicating that he has likely increased a bit.
-There's a small chance he might get into Smash as DLC, especially if the "it's all third-parties" speculation turns out to have some merit.

So I say no to Lloyd going away forever.

But yeah Neku, time for him to get out. Even an HD remake on the Switch days before the match couldn't stop him from being Guybrush-level.

I agree with Geno and Edgeworth. I'm surprised they've continued to get in every year without board support. And I say that with Edgeworth in my top 5 VG characters. He's just that weak.

Drake is a hard no from me. He may be confirmed fodder with a loss to Tails, but he's not bad fodder. Just a little below the fodder line. And he's still enough of a Sony icon to warrant staying in.

If Geno still makes it back, we need him against someone that's not Square or Nintendo in any respect whatsoever, though we could still do without him unless he is one of the five DLC for Smash 5. It doesn't help he only has one fucking picture too.

What's sad about Neku getting back in is that the two characters that beat him in fodder matches didn't show up in Laharl and Catherine. Laharl is probably in the same boat where we don't need to see him back, but Catherine could do with another appearance as a low seed.

Here's a game that needs to stop soaking up nominations and I really hate to say it: Trials and Tribulations. Stop nominating it, Board 8, and put the nomination towards AA1 so it can get a good seed and a winnable match. Both GotD and BGE3 had this problem where both AA games got stuck with low seeds and bad draws, but AA1 looked like a lower-midcarder to high fodder, whereas T&T looked absolutely miserable in comparison.

Ryo Hazuki. Unless a Shenmue sequel actually takes the series somewhere, this dude can look for sailors somewhere else.

...To give other cult characters their first win.

Just like how Vyse got his first(and only) win off Laharl

And Laharl got his first win vs Neku

And Gordon Freeman got his first win against Phoenix Wright
