They mismanaged expectations like crazy. There's no reason guys like Isaac and Skull Kid shouldn't have been revealed as Assist Trophies BEFORE today, so people could get over it and accept it instead of having hope for months.

Also this exactly. I'm a little underwhelmed with this Direct at all, but hot damn why they didn't save bigger reveals for this final Direct is beyond me. Given that, I can see why people might be more disappointed.

There's a bunch of 3rd-party choices that would be cool and are semi-realistic. Banjo, Sora, uh...Dante was in a random leak I guess?? If Toby Fox strikes a deal with the devil, Sans would be awesome.

I think it's more that none of the characters they revealed made me excited whatsoever. I can sometimes get on board with characters I didn't already like if they really appeal to me, but I like that guys like Ridley and K.Rool got in because they made a lot of people happy, but they didn't do anything for me.

I actually work in reverse. I pick the character I like and make my playstyle fit them. Going from playing speedy characters to Brawl Ike was a trial, let me tell you.

Maybe Ivysaur, (but even he is a starter middle stage at least) Jigglypuff?

Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle are 3 of the 5 most popular Pokmon ever. Mewtwo probably is too, even if not hes top 10 along with Lucario, Greninja is sixth gen and a top 30 popular Pokmon which is insane since sixth gen. PT is main character. Pichu maybe? I dont consider Pilachus prevo generic, but you might.

K. Rool and Ridley were my most wanted characters but honestly there's a good chance I'll never play as them as that much if they're too slow. Fortunately K. Rool is actually looking damn good based on the matches we've seen so far from him. Like even Zero's analysis of him was that he could be one of the first high tier big characters.

But yeah, just play as the characters who are actually fun imho.

It's just a viewpoint that's so bizarre to me that I can't wrap my head around it. It doesn't make it invalid, and I wasn't trying to say that it was. I think it kinda blended in with people like MWC actually being little asshats. It's not a viewpoint I agree with, but I still shouldn't have my tone so hostile.

If Square gets someone it will 98% be Sora or Crono. There is zero chance it will be someone else from VII. Outside or outside shots at Lightning or Noctis.

No worries. Smash causes tensions to run high.

My viewpoint can be summed up as this: while I find Smash gameplay to be fun, for me it is at its core a fanservice fighting game, and the fanservice characters added to this one is making it really hard to justify my purchase, especially consider I have been playing Smash for 20 years and need things to spice it up.

I'll probably end up getting it anyway because I already bought a Switch months ago, SUNK COST FALLACY WOO

Ultimately (pun intended), you can literally just not spend $60 on it. It's purely a personal choice. You can't put it on the devs for not catering to you, because they're not making the game for you. In fact, no dev is making any game for you. The implications otherwise are horrible. I thought after GG people would at least be more conscious of this stuff, but nothing has changed.
