My phone was acting up a bit, so I reset it, but...this got me to think of something. I have had it almost 2 years now......and I believe I have turned it off only a handfull of times, and all but 2 of those times (both due to the phone acting up) have been due to being in a movie theater!!!

I have gone many months without going to the movies though, and, it's quite likely, I have had my phone on for 6+ months at a time.

Considering some people don't even go to the movies at all anymore, it's possible people are running around with their phones on for over a year.

Now...this may not seem insane to many of you, but.....the concept of leaving an electric device on....for that long.....seems insane to me. I still always turn of my game systems when not using them, etc...that is just what we always did, and it has led me to never having a game system break down on me actually.

There was a whole (should you leave your computer on all the time, or not) debate years ago....I always went with the turn it off at the end of the day crowd (even though there was evidence it was actually harder on your machine).

But now...it's ....quite possibly years...that cell phones are going without a break. That blows my mind.

My phone has been randomly shutting down recently even though the battery is at around 25%. I say random because sometimes it will stay at 1% for like an hour with no issue. Normally though I can go almost 6 months at a time without restarting my phone.

I'll probably get it replaced once the Christmas rush is over.

My consoles are always hard off at night. I used to do the same with my PC. Years ago when I moved to the laptop I'd just close the lid and let it hibernate. It's essentially off at that point.

It's a good idea to restart things in order to clear out the memory and all. Still reboot the modem/router once in a while too.

Hmmm I should reboot my router/modem....although power outages etc have probably done that for me a few times a year already.

I still turn off my laptop every night when I go to bed as well.

Yeah, 2 times now my phone has started having problems and I have had to restart it....but that is over 3 years or so lol (there was times I turned it off for movies though, so it's probably never been more then 6 months).

I'm not sure, I've probably had it stay on for a whole year or even two years but I know its been turned off quite a few times, all for being bugging out and slowing down. A few years ago it had this weird thing where it would turn itself off and on again all on its own, while having full or near full charge. It did that for a few months and hasn't done it since.

Only time I turn my phone off is to change out the battery (which I've done twice since I got it) or to upload files to the microSD card (since it's much faster to shut down, pull the chip, put it in my PC, copy, stick it back in the phone & boot than it is to plug the phone into the PC and copy that way, thank you very much Samsung)
