May I ask why you think Im Republican? Thats part of the problem of your way of thinking. Anyone who thinks X must be X. X is the enemy. The enemy is evil.

Because I've seen your posts here for the better part of a year and you routinely side with them? I don't care what you're registered as, when you continuously support and vote for one side over the other, you are that side. And no, I don't think all Republicans are evil, stop putting words in my mouth.

Its a loophole because it didnt factor in the existence of such people when it was established. It did not predict how the borders and sovereignty of countries would be developed.

Uh, yes, it absolutely did that, as it was signed into law as part of the Reconstruction amendments following the Civil War. And likewise if that's your argument then I hope you're in favor in completely tossing out the Constitution as a whole and rewriting it to adapt to modern times. If you think the 14th amendment is outdated there are proper channels to amend it, and shoddy EO's aren't one of them.

The children of illegal citizens should not be citizens of this country. They never should have been. It leads to bad practices like anchor babies. Those who are already citizens should obviously keep their citizenship, but it should not be a thing going forward.

And again, you lack the fortitude to tell people that were made citizens this way you don't think they belong.

What would that non-existing attribute be?

Pro tip- brown skin bad! Is not an argument

His argument was refuted, so he made something up that he thinks Trump will do as some sort of argument. Once you start doing that, you have left the strike zone.

Come on Namur, we know your posting history

The act of assigning a label to someone because of a viewpoint they hold is putting them in a box and declaring them an enemy. That is a bad way of doing things.

And now youre jumping to extremes for no particular reason. Ancor babies are a problem. The wording somewhere should be changed to fix that.

The final lacking fortitude bunk is yet another attempt at labeling. Its also a dumb argument.

I really hope your daughter is blonde, has blue eyes and has zero Asian-looking features at all, @MuayThai85 or else karma will be a bitch with your alt right world view

Lol I'm alt right because I believe in legal immigration and I'm against birthright citizenship. Are all those European countries alt right then?

And my daughter does in fact have blonde hair, blue eyes and white skin (her only Asian feature is her eye shape). And karma won't be a bitch since my daughter is a legal Canadian citizen due to her father being a Canadian citizen...

Well if someone like 45 wins in Canada she will have a hard time. It isnt entirely out of the question you know? Folks like Gavin McInnes, faith Goldy and Lauren Southern sure are getting popular up there!

It actually is. No one is pushing for the children of citizens to lose their citizenship, they are pushing for children whose parents (ie. both mother AND father) aren't citizens to not receive citizenship. They aren't even comparable situations...

Nice interpretation.

Just hope the alt right doesnt win in Canada like they did here, or else Muay Thai jr. Wont have it that easy ;)

So tell me, if youre into Muay Thai you must have trained with such diverse people. How can you dislike diversity ?

And ignoring the constitution is without a shadow of a doubt worse, and yet you support that. Which no one in their right mind should. Considering we have stupid things like people losing their ability to vote without their knowledge or consent because of "misspellings" that may or may not be their fault, the last thing we need is for people to start saying that you somehow aren't actually a citizen because your parent's name was wrong or something stupid.

No. You want to amend a constitutional amendment. Do it right. Or don't do it at all.

If what he is doing is within the bounds of presidential power, I support it. If what he is doing is impossible/an abuse, then I don't support it. I do think that is a good change that should be made, even if it's done through another avenue.

It's not. It's trying to use EOs to ignore the proper way of amending the constitution. EOs are bad because they literally reverse the way the government is supposed to be working. Judicial should absolutely not be the one to say "ERRRR wrong, you're not doing that Mr. President." That's literally supposed to be the legislative branch that's being told not to do these things. Not Executive. EOs need to go.

Trump's vow to end the right to citizenship for the children of non-citizens

Hahaha and you thought he was going only for illegals?

You could be a PERMANENT RESIDENT and if your offspring is born here he wont have the citizenship. Imagine that.

Imagine youre a rocket scientist or the guy whos researching to cure cancer but youre here on a visa and spend 20 years here and your offspring is born here, when your research is done your 20 yr old will have to go to some country he never knew, which speaks a language he may not know, because after 20 years he/she is not a citizen of the only country he/she knows!

Also, wouldn't messing with the 14th amendment create an unholy loop hole of epic proportions?
Technically, almost EVERYONE (with very few exceptions) could be considered NOT a citizen due to almost everyone's family tree at one point originating from a country that isn't the United States. Anyway, if the 14th amendment does get screw with, this isn't going to end well.

It would be funny if this racist ideal opens the door the then undoing the second amendment by executive order too later on lol

Obviously not, because it would affect him.

Unless he could secure citizenship for
His daughter and THEN enforce the change, he would love that since he is all about climbing the ladder and then pulling it and saying oh well, aint I cute? :^)

The tactics being employed by Trump are underhanded and attempting to use a loophole of sorts, if you can call executive orders a loophole. Similar to unconstitutional gun laws that states knew would get challenged in court, that's what Trump's intent likely is with birthright citizenship. Get it to a high court and perhaps it could be interpreted to be in line with the constitution. Sadly our legislature doesn't do its job and law is more or less dictated from the bench now.

If the lawyers contesting his power grab are any smart they will contest it on the grounds that an EO can't override the constitution, without going into whether the amendment was interpreted correctly or not

If I had to guess, I would say he never intended for this to actually stick and become implemented before a judicial injunction is slapped on it. Its likely a stunt to rally his base.
