The end of episode 18 doesn't really "get" me, but man, the obvious pain on Kyou's face as she bursts into tears hurts. That's a well done moment.

Hmm, I think I have conflicted feelings here and am also conflicted over having conflicted feelings. Episodes 16-18 were really good, as expected from the episodes charged with a bunch emotional confrontations but I feel like it stumbled towards the end, even as it simultaneously made decisions that I think were superior to - and also inferior to - the VN.

Ultimately, I think the increased presence and focus on Amadeus at the end was to the show's detriment. In theory, I have no issues with some expansion on the sequence between Okabe in 2036 and Okabe succeeding in thwarting Leskinen at the Radio Building but the Amadeus focus here fell flat for me, especially so when it basically took over an entire episode and a half. It was weird really, Amadeus basically vanished for most of the timeskip in the anime before being brought back here and I didn't really like it.

Also, I think the VN's structure actually worked to its benefit for the ending over what the anime did here. I think how the VN tied things together and reached the solution was better than how the anime did it, though I'll admit it'd be really tough, if not impossible, for the anime to capture the route structure of the VN without being confusing or convoluted. In a way, it felt like the anime showed/explained too much.

I also think the VN did some of the emotional scenes better, like Mayuri's text to Okabe explaining why she chose to go to the past with Suzuha. On the other hand, it felt like we had a bit more Kyouma in the anime if only because of said expansion of the 2036 -> End sequences and that's always great.

I dunno, I feel like I liked the VN more and the anime ultimately fell a bit flat for me at the end, and some of it isn't its fault IMO (VN structure would be difficult to adapt, time) but some of it was (Amadeus Focus, Presentation) almost to the point where when it ended I was just like "meh" and that makes me feel bad. And maybe I was just feeling bad while watching the last few episodes and that was it? Or that beyond the VN comparisons it had to compete with Steins;Gate and Chaos;Child (Mostly the VN) and both of those I think have it beat pretty badly? I dunno. I feel bad for not liking it a lot I think which just seems silly. =(

Also, universal plus for the anime over the VN so I don't feel like too much of a downer: It dodged some of the silliest parts of the VN.

I think the stuff after the first half was a little weaker in general, since it had to adapt the content from all the routes without adapting the endings, so you get a bunch of building action with no climax for a while. The end stuff was pretty good.

So it would seem! Bowser in 2005 did way better (almost 66%) against Chun-Li than this!

I think this is just 2013 DK being legit more than DK just boosting from Smash. That Lightning performance makes a lot more sense if you think of it that way.

Ganondorf probably doesn't have a lot of reason to boost from Breath of the Wild.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Chun-Li were getting stronger relative to everyone else because of SFIV and MvC3. It's just hard for Ryu to gain strength, I think, because he's so ubiquitous.
