He's looking an awful lot like your regular old white dude. So I'm learning more towards one of Trumps proud boy types.

Edit: Apparently they just found his social media. He was criticizing a refugee group that tried to help people who were victimized simply due to being jews. Yep, more right wing terror! Who could have guessed?

So there was the mail bomber, there was the guy that tried to break into a church and instead settled on shooting black people in the back of the head at a grocery store in kentucky, and there is this guy gunning down jews in a synagogue.

Are republicans ever going to stand up against Trump and the violence he promotes?

I like the Pink Floyd reference (they did a song titled 'comfortably numb' years ago) to this topic. I, however, aren't 'comfortably numb' because the people killed could've been my family and friends who I care a lot about. When did the US become a place where nobody can put themselves in someone else's shoes, ie relate to anyone other than themselves?

And that's what I meant about how my heart still feels for those affected, but at the same time, the news about violence is pretty normalized. Violence itself isn't, but how the media and how most of society goes along with it is.

I didn't want this topic to devolve into another gun debate which is why I refrained from saying anything besides what I did.

The real issue, like Judgmenl said, is one of culture. Treating your friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, children, family, pretty much everyone better and with the same kindness you'd want directed to you is a great way to start preventing this. I'm not blaming it on society as a whole, shooters still make the decision to carry through with violence, but one decent conversation years ago could have drastically changed the course someone decides to go down.

Will shootings still occur? Of course. They always will. It's not a matter of stopping it, but cutting the numbers down. Just looking out for other people and caring for one another is enough to make that a reality.
