Hey back off my family does it

Where do you get your numbers from exactly?

I mean, you're allowed to be cheap

But just accept that you're cheap instead of defending it and move on

Standard $4 minimum. If it's a large order and a ton to carry it'll go up. Timing normally has no effect.

But sometime you can order 3 things and it costs $40. I'm not tipping the kid $8.

This seems in the reasonable area.

Also SBell I'd like to apologize for coming off with much most hostility than I meant to. I think it's a bit of a sore subject since where I live people really take advantage of people like this and there's extreme entitlement despite the fact that it's actually a pretty poor area, yet people still shit all over each other.

A delivery driver doesn't expect you to tip more for large orders. They are doing the same job. The workers in the kitchen are the ones doing more.

That is also why they don't expect to get tipped like literally dog shit when they bring you your small orders either.

Keep in mind that bad delivery drivers actually do exist.

If SBell is a long time customer and this is the first time it happened he may actually be directing his anger towards the right person here

I'll move on but won't accept it's cheap, it's standard, at least when I was growing up around the people I know. Just like you had the change from 15 to 20% base line in restaurants for waiters/waitress in many instances that's probably what is going on here, but I refuse to follow the crowd this time, they can think whatever they want.

I absolutely would tip lower for bad delivery times which was result of driver (cold food) and not busy place. Or a delivery driver who previously ruined my food by letting the pizza box not be even and all the cheese moved to a side of the pizza or pressed the box down into the cheese.

But, I am assuming normally competent drivers.

I saw your side of it. I wasn't taking any offense. I understand the driver needs to make working this gig a profitable venture or else why do it.

Take the extra 5% your waiters have you convinced is the new baseline and start tipping your delivery drivers like a decent human being. Waiters ain't ever gonna literally go in the red because of your tip their. Delivery drivers can. They expend money to deliver food. Waiters don't have to pay for something to get you yours.

One of the reasons I don't use uber eats a lot is because I know if I order direct from a restaurant and they mess up most of the time they tell me why and I get like a discount or something. This protection doesn't exist from ubereats. Like one time I ordered from a local pizza hut and they messed up my order (but I didn't actually notice). An hour later they came back and gave me my original order (without me asking), I got to keep the original one, AND they emailed me a coupon for a free pizza after too.

Off topic (ish)

I was in a restaurant in Jim Thorpe, PA a few weeks ago and it was only 4 of us and we ordered drinks and food and the service was god awful, constantly looking for a server in an almost empty restaurant. Restaurant includes an automatic 20% gratuity to all bills.

And still offers a line to increase the tip.

I was livid. This practice needs to stop.

But I pay the delivery fee, that should cover gas and wear and tare on the car, unless I am missing something.

I would have no problem taking 5% from waiters/waitress and giving it to drivers as a general principle, but exactly how I would go about dealing with that I am not sure.

Pay 15% for a typical waiter. 20% for a great waiter above and beyond. Pay 10% for a shitty waiter. Pay zero for a god wrecking terrible waiter who ruined your meal.

I mean, waiters should be tipped on how their service was. Delivery drivers literally just deliver your food. They should be basically tipped the same every time unless again conditions out are bad or they made your food get to you cold.

And yes, I think delivery fees are bullshit. It is because people are bad tippers so they have to install it to make their delivery drivers don't lose money. If there is a delivery fee, I am fine with including that as part of your tip personally even as a past delivery driver. If $1 fee take a $1 off your tip to tip as you would if one didn't exist.

Don't recall the name but it was right up the street from the old train station. Jim Thorpe is an adorable little town but this over charging is a big turn off.

I've driven for post mates, and if the app is similar there's no reason the driver couldn't have at least send a message.

They can't not allow the driver to cancel though. Pizza and chinese delivery ties the food production and shipping in the same business.

Uber drivers aren't employees and aren't like responsible for your food. It can't work the same way.
