You cant dictate to me authoritarian scum. Im a rebel!

2 chicken breasts
Half cup plain flour
2 eggs
1 handful of fresh parsley
50g - 2oz Parmesan cheese
1 cup white wine (click for wine alternatives)
1 cup chicken stock
1 garlic clove
4 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp butter
Half lemon
Salt and pepper

Step 1
Crack the eggs into a large enough dish to fit chicken breast. Season eggs with salt and pepper, give them a light beat.

Step 2
Chop the parsley finely (keep a few sprigs for garnish) and add half to egg mixture.

Step 3
Grate all the Parmesan cheese finely and add to egg mixture, mix well. Set aside.

Step 4
Remove chicken skin if any, then butterfly cut your breast. Hold a long sharp knife along the thicker part of the breast, place your hand on top and slice through the breast almost until the end. Cut parallel to your cutting board, and open the breast like a book. Place cling film on a board, add your breast spread open, sandwich it in cling film and flatten the thicker side using the flat side of a meat mallet or the underside of a saucepan.

Step 5
Get your wine and chicken stock portions ready.

Step 6
Add the plain flour to a plate, spread it out flat by shaking plate.

Step 7
Peel the garlic and place in garlic press (or chop finely).

Step 8
To a frying pan on moderate heat, add the olive oil and half the butter.

Step 9
Coat the chicken in the flour, shake off any excess flour.

Step 10
Dip the chicken in the egg wash, make sure its totally covered and place in hot oil.

Step 11
Cook chicken for approx. 4 minutes each side (depending on thickness). Flip over once brown and cook the other side. Transfer chicken to a hot plate and rest.

Step 12
To the same frying pan on full heat, add the white wine (alcohol can catch fire so be careful, turn off heat first if unsure). Add the chicken stock. Add the crushed garlic. Add the squeeze of half a lemon. And leave to reduce 2 minutes on high heat.

Step 13
Add the remaining half of chopped parsley. Add the remainder of butter and mix until butter is melted on very low heat.

Step 14
Return the chicken to the sauce and continue heating chicken on low heat no more than 30 seconds.

Step 15
Serve the chicken on warm plates, garnished with parsley.

Well, you're not a fan. Like to an outsider, I'm sure you don't see a problem with it, but that art style is just distinctly "not Trails in the Sky."

A pic has to be really atrocious for a non-fan to say "wow that's a really bad pic"

I mean sure if you want to break the format, but he's not going to get a sprite in round 1. But that picture is clearly and unmistakably Guile, so he's not going to get much better than that considering the format.

Sprite Kefka would do better too but he's not going to get that in the first round.

Plus, Kirby also has great sprites, so I'm not sure it wouldn't cancel out anyway. It's really difficult to get a pic advantage against Kirby.

Though I do think a more cartoony pic couldve boosted him maybe a point or something. Like this one.

...Because it actually looks like how Estelle looks in the game. It's not an Amano art situation, and I'm not saying Estelle would be doing tons better, but I think she would be doing a little better.

I don't think Trails fans are any more hardcore than any other fanbase, where they're just going to vote for Estelle, no matter what, regardless of what B8 would tell you. Estelle actually having a pic that looks like her character from Trails would help her. I would have been less inclined to vote for her with the pic she has if she were actually against someone I knew and liked a comparable amount.

Analysis

To a lot of people, Squall is arguably the strongest character in the main bracket though he may have to work to get out of this division. While it was a bit embarrassing that he lost to Vivi in 2013 Im willing to mark that as 2013 rally shenanigans than a drop in strength. His performance against Amaterasu puts him as an elite character.

While we dont have any information on Hat Kid or his game I dont expect much out of him. A new IP on GameFAQs is almost surely to fail. I always consider Hat Kid to be more niche than Cuphead and we already saw what Dante did to him. This has the potential to be the largest blowout of the contest though a potential Link/Ganondorf match could rob Squall of that honor.

Match XXXIV: (8) Garrus Vakarian vs. (9) Ramza Beoulve

Garrus Vakarian - 2013
Round 1: 40.13% against Sub-Zero (49.02%) and Frank West (10.86%)

Round 1: 28.08% against Squirtle (59.47%) and JC Denton (12.45%)

Analysis

Despite losing in the first round in 2013, Garrus had a decent performance against Sub-Zero. As we move further away from the height of Mass Effect I feel Garrus will only get weaker. Im not sure if weve reached that point yet, but a lot of people were turned off from Mass Effect 3 and the series has yet to recover.

I still think it will be enough to defeat Ramza. He had a great performance against Kirby in 2003, but all of his appearances since showed that hes fodder, high level fodder, but still fodder. The upset could happen, but that would be more due to Garrus crashing than having any faith in Ramza.

Match XXXV: (5) Metal Sonic vs. (12) The Boss

Round 2: 28.87% against Bowser (41.50%) and Sub-Zero (28.87%)

Analysis

At this point, it is almost tradition that I have a stupid pick in the first round. I have Metal Sonic winning here and I dont know why. Like Dark Link, Metal Sonic is expected to get a portion of his strength due to sharing the name of the main character. This will likely help him capture apathy votes which is helpful in this forcing you to vote in all four matches format and The Boss is a decent opponent for this as not everyone has played Metal Gear Solid 3.

Still, The Boss had a great 2013 where she went even with Sub-Zero. The only hope for Metal Sonic is if The Boss dropped. While Big Boss underperformed earlier this round Id soon argue that Ridley increased in strength rather than Big Boss dropping off. Besides, the weakest we saw her was when she was still going even with Tails.

As an aside, if Dark Link did ever make the bracket I feel he would be worth around 25% against Link, before SFF. If the same holds true for Metal Sonic then it should be an easy win for The Boss.

Match XXXVI: (4) Zelda vs. (13) Ezio Auditore da Firenze

Zelda - 2013
Round 1: 61.63% against John Marston (27.13%) and Sackboy (11.24%)
Round 2: 41.43% against Charizard (41.49%) and Donkey Kong (17.08%)

Ezio Auditore da Firenze - 2013
Round 1: 45.51% against Miles Tails Prower (31.19%) and Bomberman (23.30%)
Round 2: 22.00% against L-Block (40.99%) and Auron (37.01%)

Analysis

These two characters faced each other in 2010 and since then they have likely taken different paths. Breath of the Wild is pretty much the Game of the Decade for GameFAQs and Zelda plays quite a big role in the game. Ganondorf looked pretty good earlier this round so Im expecting a decent boost. Will it be enough to defeat Squall in the third round though?

Ezio had respectable strength, but GameFAQs has pretty much abandoned the series as seen by the demolishing of Assassins Creed II from Final Fantasy VI in 2015. I expect a drop rivaling Freeman from Ezio which will likely lead to a lot of people hyping Zelda. Ezio got almost 38% against Zelda in 2010 and honestly, I wouldnt be surprised if she pulls off the tripling.

my latest theory that i came up with when i was taking a big shit (my big shit reminded me of Joel's match pic) was that Allen is attempting to streamline the contests as much as possible

so there won't be any more user-submitted match pics. ever. except for maybe the last round or two.

he's gonna use the same pics for every character. forever probably, or unless they get a major redesign

like he's banking on us nomming the same stable of characters every character battle

he won't change up the format much. no more gimmicks. just shit very similar to or identical to CBX. same with the game contests.

jfc kirby's pic factor is too strong, i literally cannot look at squall for more than a second before my eyes wander back to the big pink blob

also Ganondorf/Frog/Neku/KOS-MOS didn't have a pic for about an hour, and as soon as the pic came up KOS-MOS got a noticeable bump in votes

Like I said before, I'm kinda fine with SBAllen using the same pics every round just because it eliminates variance and wild cards like pic sabotage, but the pic selection needs to be tighter if that's what you're going to do.

I think Joel looks fine. People say that about a lot of characters with more realistic art styles, and the problem is that those characters simply dont look nearly as good as anime-styled characters when you zoom out (or at all). There is no way to make Joel look especially photogenic, he always looks grimy and dirty and tired and slightly dead inside because that's just what Joel is like.
