Crash did fairly well in 2013 and his HD trilogy got a lot of attention. This wasnt going to be a slam dunk for Crash but his victory was a lot more likely than people have him credit for.

L3fty's not wrong here (wait, did I actually agree with l3fty on something?), and it's not just Cecil. FFIV characters have never gotten an easy match. Hell, based on her performances when she has made it in, there's a fairly decent chance that FFIV wouldn't be 0-for-eternity in Character Battles if Rydia had made the female bracket in '06 (though given how unlucky they've been in bracket placement, she'd have probably run into Tifa or Aerith in round 1.)

...Wait, am I onto something? If we rally next time to get Rydia a good seed, she could probably win a match.

Rydia before the FFIV DS remake would have been utter weaksauce. Look at Cecil was before that game came out and then after.
