what???????

sometimes, i like to have a chat window with one person open... and a chat window with someone else open next to it. like i like being able to see both of them at the same time.

like if i'm having a private conversation with someone, i can also have a big chatroom open in another window. and see both of them.

whereas with discord i'd have to use the left menu to click over and only see one at a time.

or more important, if i'm hosting a chat game like mafia, in AIM, i can have the scumchat open, the game chat open, and all the player's private windows so i can easily manage their night actions, but if i'm using discord, i have to keep switching over and i can't monitor the scum chat while also reading the game chat

i don't see what could possibly be so controversial about this

I mean, if this is such a big deal, you could just open multiple windows of discord.

Web browser can have multiple tho, so you could open it multiple times in your preferred web browser.

I've opened two discord windows at once before, a few times actually. it usually happens when I accidentally click on it multiple times while getting too impatient waiting for the first window to load.

before I know it I've got two discords open.

Dels was just explaining poorly what he was saying. He clarified it in his post after mine. I never expressed an opinion of any sort. I asked him if he was trolling because he said he couldn't have private convos on discord and it is why he didn't like it. Which you can do. He clarified he meant pop out window chats ala aim afterwards.

I probably did this whenever you said it, it's been years now!

FWIW aim was the perfect setup as far as chat clients, including group chats and nothing will ever top it.... at least while it was fully functional and let you actually join rooms.

having multiple external windows/chats you could move around was great. i guess you can do that too with a browser, but that comes with all the extra browser junk when you really just want a more lightweight window.

Discord lets you do as many private chats as you want.

Unless you specifically want to look at all of them at the same time, in which case... you're strange.

i guess i can see how "multiple windows open at a time" doesn't necessarily imply "open at the same time and all side-by-side instead of just open but you have to switch through them" so i can see how it was misunderstood
